update: nothing that new or exciting here but thought I would post it anyway:

"WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik says he is not overlooking Gary Lockett of the UK, a heavy underdog in their June 7 bout at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

Pavlik told The Vindicator that a lot people might be underestimating Lockett because of his skin color and his European roots. If people feel that way about his opponent, Pavlik says they have not been paying attention to the changing landscape in the sport.

“If there is any perception of that, it’s from people who haven’t been paying attention to boxing the last five years. They just remember the Pernell Whitakers, the [Oscar] De La Hoyas, the [Felix] Trinidads and Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield. That’s what they’re going off of because right now in boxing the majority of champions are Caucasian fighters or European fighters.”

“If you look at all the weight classes from junior welterweight up, [a lot of the champions] are from the UK, Wales, Germany, Russia," Pavlik said. "You look at the middleweight division, the two other belts [besides Pavlik’s] are held by Felix Sturm and Arthur Abraham and they’re from Germany. I’ve got the other two and I’m Slovak and ‘Heinz 57.’ ”

Pavlik is currently sparring with super middleweights Ted Muller and James Countryman. He promises to put on show when he steps in the ring with Lockett.

"I’m a bad dude,” Pavlik said. “Mentally and physically, I prepare for every fight like it’s my main fight. I take nobody lightly and I train like nobody else does. My training shows in the ring. I wear fighters down.”

Pavlik stated he's ready to throw 90-100 punches a round in this fight which him saying that alone is enough to get me PUMPED! almost three weeks away. I'm curious, but who's more interested in watching HBO or Showtime that night? both are gonna be good events IMO
