Some new gloves!

Hello all.

I typically post on sherdog forums under the equipment section but I saw TysonJones' list of gloves and comments about them so I thought I could let guys on this forum know about some gloves Im going to be getting in soon. Some of which have been reviewed here already.

TITLE Platinum Lace-Up Training Gloves from Title Boxing

Pro Mex Professional Lace-Up Training Gloves from Title Boxing

TITLE GEL Lace-Up World Training Gloves from Title Boxing

All 16oz and black.

Pro Mex Official Pro Fight Gloves from Title Boxing (10oz and white).

I did the MMA thing but now I have been primarily training in boxing (but still love MMA for its completeness) so I started out with a lot of Thai boxing gloves. I decided to get better boxing instruction because lets face it, having a coach dedicated to instructing just you and working the pads is infinitely better than the classroom by the numbers instruction. I was using fairtex gloves which werent bad, but as I started to develop combinations and speed, my hands were starting to hurt. I bought a pair of winnings gloves 12 oz in size prior to that, just to try an actual pair of boxing gloves and boy am I glad I did. I started using the winnings and the pain in my knuckles eventually subsided. From this experience I have a bit of a disdain for the thai style gloves, and have been trying out different boxing gloves.

To give you more of a background of my experiences so one could have a better perspective of my reviews Ill include some of my opinions on gloves I own.

The winnings velcro 12 ouncers. Outstanding gloves. Feel and look outstanding with very soft leather and the glove itself is very soft and easy to manipulate. They protect the hands very well.

I own a pair of Flores gloves by Dan Mosby (Flores's nephew) and these things are by far my favorite. Very thick and durable leather, yet very soft and uber easy to make a fist. Hand made, old school quality to the extreme. They are for sparring but I havent used em for that purpose yet.

I owned a pair of Grant training gloves and I sent them back a few days later. I found them incredibly stiff(padding and leather) and extremely difficult to form a fist.

A pair of directly from Mexico 16oz velcro/lace Reyes gloves. Okay I really like to craftsmanship and think they are works of art; BUT the fist compartment is like a hangar bay. I could double fist these gloves (Im not exaggerating). Also since the fist is so wide, the padding is spread out a large area, meaning, your sparring partners get the worst of it. My coach looked at em for about 5 seconds and came to the conclusion that I cant spar with those. I dont think the ringside Cletos have such a huge fist, but I could be wrong. This is one of the reasons I want to try the promex. They have the profile, just not so huge, and old style construction with horsehair and foam and that whole bit. If they arent so stiff as the grants, I think they will do well.

Ultimate Classics trainers 16 oz lace ups. I concur with the comments and opinions of most here. It seems that these are trying to be what my Flores gloves define, and they fall short by far. I would give them the analogy of being like a hummer or range rover. Very tough and durable, but not well handling. Great padding for protection, but a little top heavy. I feel they are a bit stiff as well(just a bit, not like the grants). I can make a fist easy enough, its just that they are already in that position. I couldn't open em up very much to relax my hand. Somewhat of a disappointment.

Last boxing glove I own, I just purchased these yesterday.
Everlast pro trainers 14oz(velcro). I think these are great gloves. I thought for sure I wouldnt like em, but they had a pair up at my local Dicks sporting goods store so I figure Id try em out.
Nice compact design with flexible leather and padding. I feel they will give good protection without them being overly soft. The elastic strap, although not as pretty as a leather strap, definitely secures the glove tighter. The leather seems to be similar to the black UC leather.
I had my nephew try em on, and he preferred them to the amature gloves that they had at the store. I strongly preferred them as well.

I also have a 12oz Shevlin boxing training glove (for bag and pad work) on the way soon so look for a review on those as well.

Have a good one
