Not necessarily. If you can move side to side on at least a half-circle in front of your slam man, you are OK. Those slam man's present a different kind of target, but one that can still be approached on the angles. The really bad thing is if you cannot move and punch. The worst for that is having a heavybag strung up in a closet - I've seen this before both in person and even in guides. To hit a bag in a closet, you have to come at it dead on, in a straight line. That's awful.
