Oh yeah, no doubt, but like I said I have Mexican market 16 oz gloves, which are different than Ringside's training glove.
I looked at Juan Mcpherson's pair of ringside Cletos which were in his bag and I tried em on real quick; and yeah I really liked em, so I bought a pair for myself. The Cleto definately has an edge in construction and leather over the Promex, but you pay a lot for that last 10-20%. To some of us its worth it, others, not so much. So after seeing these gloves I would totally concur with your statement.
My first pair of real boxing gloves were my velcro Winnings, my third pair, a pair of Flores gloves. Mexican Cletos after that. I bought the title stuff to try out the cheaper gloves, and although they are not quite at the level of the above mentioned gloves, I could be content using the gloves even after being spoiled by the best money can buy (or cant buy in the case of being lucky with the Flores gloves).
