Dealing with Distractions at the gym...

So, to all you boxing and mma fighters out there, training, how do you deal with distractions at the gym?

Im having issues with distractions and not sure how to solve it. We have mostly men at our gym, but there are a number of females ranging in ages from late teens to mid 30's. Most of them have been there for years training, and are great boxers and people. My issue is during the warm ups. We all get in the ring and do our warm up sets. I tend to look at one spot for our warm ups,but my problem is I find my self looking at our girls.. Not in a lustfull or sexual way, but for some reason my gaze gets fixed on them.. They dont seam to notice, or care and when i catch my self i turn away.

I also have this issue when i am holding the bag during speed drills, especialy if my partner who is whacking the bag is a girl. Where the hell do i look? If its a guy i tend to look right at them and help encourage them and what not. If its a girl i stay quiet and look away from them. Again I dont wanna look like im learing at them, so i look away, WTF do i do.

Then there is the heavy bag.. There is a mid 30's lady, been there for years and is a good boxer. Problem is, if im doing my work out on my bag and she is working the same round as me on another near by bag, i get distracted. Mostly due to the ehem- interesting way she kinda bobs her hips during her punches.. We have actually joked together about this before, she knows she does it, but its really distracting.. Its like im work ing working then its like oh looky there...

God i sound sexiest, but im really not. I am happily married and these ladies are friends to me. Maybe i just need to find other places to fix my gaze when warming up and working.... Any thoughts guys.. So what is your distractions at work out and how do you deal with them..

I don't know what to really tell you. I've never really had distraction problems in the gym, I don't really care what others are doing around me, I only care that my workout is being done.

The only thing I can think of is to clear your mind and maybe you'll stop. Maybe subconciously you're think about looking and that's why you are.

I dont have much urge to look around when im on the bag, if i do get the urge to check them out....i just check them out, human nature to have a peak. I think you are over thinking this way to much.

When ur holding the pads/bag for them, just act like you always do - if you give constructive/encouraging comments they wont think anything of you looking at them... Basically you think about this shiit waaaay more than they do

You guys are probably right, im over thinking it. If they were crap boxers then thats one thing but, they are good boxers, way better then me in fact. I find my self glimpsing there way during my rest periods to watch them work, they have such a grace and there technique is always spot on. We have so many people in our club that we have people working during others rest periods.

Well maybe i should just not pay it much thought any more. I tend to over think things, maybe this is one of those times..
