Hoq to get rid of stiffness?

Hey there. Im 14 and have been at my gym for about a month now, and had my first sparring session last week. But my coaches still keep telling me I am a little bit stiff (One of my trainers actually said the guy who normally trains me and started me off may have caused this). How can I get more relaxed, or is it just something I have to do myself If you get what I mean? Thanks.

EDIT: Ah geez, messed up the title.

they probably mean ur punches. Are you flexing ur body everytime you throw a punch? This is a big mistake most beginners make when they first start. Just keep ur body loose and swing ur arms, dont flex.

I dont flex my body when i throw my punches, but I think my coaches mean I throw them in a stiff way, but not 100% sure.

If he's talking about your fists and arms, relax your fist at resting position, clenching your fist causes a flex in the muscles in the forearm and surrounding the elbows, even lightly. Loosen your fist in guard position and when you punch clench your fist right before the moment of contact. Doing this will increase your punching speed, power, and help you a lot.
