Being fight ready...

Skills aside, how fit would you say someone has to be to enter the ring at amateur level? (I mean in terms of sort of 'tests' you could do to determine fitness.)

How many rounds you can spar will determine if ur fit enough. How many rounds on the heavy bag. And how many miles you can run, thats my opinion. As of now, i can spar 5 rounds. I can work 6 rounds on the heavy bag. And i can run 7.5 miles. But im still not ready to fight in the amateurs. Also i think you should have atleast 7 - 9 months of hard training before you enter the amateurs.

You should be able to go 4 rounds of non stop punching in sparring on a weekly basis. Once you have done that for a good 8-12 weeks, you should be ready.

You should be able to box for at least twice the duration of your upcoming bout.
