Smile Boxing Gloves

So i've been boxing for about half a year now, and i need to replace my cheap pair of beginner gloves. I have my eyes on the "FIGHTING SPORTS TRI-TECH BAG / SPARRING GLOVES".( let me know what you think about these and if there are any other gloves that you guys reccomend)

My main concern is what weight i should get for sparring.
I currently use 10oz ones, but i find that my hands start to get sore after training. I have heard that 16 oz is a good size as it trains your arms more.

I am also looking for some headgear and bag gloves, and would appreciate any reccomendations

Thanks!

my personal favorite gloves right now are my GFG apeman sparring gloves. i have a twins, fairtex, hayabusa, cleto reys, cageside, KO fight gear, primetime and ringside IMF gloves but out of all those glove my apes are my favorite with the ringside being a close second. knuckle protection and wrist support are are primary for a glove and those 2 are great.

as for headgear my favorite is the winning fg-2900. other headgears i have are old GFG silverback, top ten openface, and rival but the winning is my favorite with the silverback being a close second. If i put on headgear is pretty much because the guy i'm sparring with can't control himself so my primary focus is on protection and the winning and silverback deliver protection i think the silverback is more protective but the winning is more comfortable.

not sure but i know when you order from winning USA they are shipped right from japan so that could be an option for you unless you can find a European retailer.

16 oz is considered the standard for sparring. I use 16 oz for everything. It's common practice to have two sets of gloves. One set of bag specific gloves and one set of sparring specific gloves. They are different and it would not be excessive to own a set of each. That being said you can use sparring specific gloves for everything but they will wear out much faster. I believe in using the right tool for the job so I have sets that are bag only gloves and sets that are sparring only gloves.

As for headgear the only choice in my opinion is Winning. FG-2900 for "Mexican style" or the FG-5000 for the ultimate in protection. I use the FG-5000 since I had some serious injuries to my nose when I was a competitive boxer. Now that I'm retired from competitive fighting there is no need to sustain injuries to my face during training.

Talking

Sorry about the late reply guys, but thanks for the reccomendations.
I don't think i'd be willing to spend several hundred dollars on Winning headgear.
Do know of any other ones that are a little cheaper maybe? (doesnt have to be extremely cheap, just a little less than the winnings :P )

Cheers

The Gorilla Fight Gear "Silverback Training Headgear" always seems to get high marks. It costs $99

Do you guys know if Everlast headgear is any good? I've heard that the gloves they make are quite flimsy and break quite easily, but i don't know anything about the headgear.

Thanks!
