Well when I tried their training glove, and Porkchop had the same experience, the glove was VERY stiff in padding and leather, and it was very difficult to make a fist. I sent it back to ringside. It was a nice looking glove for sure.
Maybe it just needs a **** load of break in, or maybe its not made quite up to the standards of their fight gloves.
The Everlast pro trainer I have is pretty nice though. I dont know how it compares to the pre Chinese days though...
No padding... damn! Well theres always winnings!

I'm not a stiffler for padding really. I have some pretty tough knuckles, but the grant ameteur gloves, bag gloves and pro gloves are excellent.

The finish of those don't compare to Grants. Sorry.

Well the padding since it was so stiff (or maybe it was just the leather) would not protect sparring partners even though Ive heard most stuff to the contraty.

Some of the best sparring gloves are the 79.99 everlast training gloves.

I also have a 12oz Shevlin boxing training glove (for bag and pad work) on the way soon so look for a review on those as well.

Have a good one
Where did you come by a pair of Flores gloves? I have been looking for some quality custom oldschool gloves for a while.
Do you like your Shevlins?
I have a pair of Reyes 16ox "mexican market" with the huge pocket, I am thinking of having a leatherwork shop i know stitch another row to tighten up the hand pocket. Might as well try because I can't use them how they are now unless U use my Gel guards and 2 sets of wraps.

I like the Shevlins a lot. Watch out for the home page though I guess it has a trojan horse on it.
Its probably getting me as we speak!

Id suggest asking for a smaller grip hose as the standard one is freaking huge.

I bought my Flores gloves off of Dan Mosby who is Ray Flores's Nephew and makes gloves occasionally.

I tell you what though, I bought a pair of Ringside Reyes training gloves and I dig em man. I think they are **** hot. I use em as sparring gloves in 16 oz, but I am 140, 135 after a hard work out and I guess that is a factor. I think the padding is just fine.

If you want an old school pair, like I said Id suggest a pair of Shevlins no doubt with a triple cuff (not ribbed) and a smaller grip hose, and get a natural leather color like tan, or brown or even black(not natural but it works ya know...). I got mine in white and while they are clean, I wish I would have gotten a natural color as it just goes better with the old school gloves. Meanwhile my ringside Reyes are a beautiful blue and It be hard for me to like em more....

Are these as good as the winnings for bag and pad work? No. Winnings are incredible for that. In their own league. I will have to try the GELs and see how they compare.

Im really impressed, and will give more impressions of the GELs soon.
Hey bruthaman... Hows the review on the gels now? You ever get the bag gloves? If so, how'd you pick the right size? How'd they compare to the winnings bag gloves?

Hope to hear a reply,

-Thx, Peace.

I just got done watching Ricky Hatton demolish Stewart.
I did indeed get the bag gloves. They are IMHO the best glove in thier respective price range. For some things they may even be better than Grants or Reyes gloves. I absolutely love my Grant fight glove for bag and mitt work. You cant go wrong with that glove. I also have the actual bag glove in addition to the 12 ounce glove. Its very nice but a bit heavy. You can smash the bag like Tyson with that glove.

Nothing feels like the Cletos or Grants when it comes to fit and craftmanship(save Flores). Winnings protects you like no other. The Title gel will protect you well and has nice flexible leather which is easy to make a fist with.
The gel bag glove is heavy and you cant make a complete fist with it, but you can still hammer away with it, and as someone else said it feels like your hand is in a vagina.
