That was technical? Heck if you want to just talk about great fights there's not enough room on the server!

It looks like quite a few posters don't know what technical means??

In all honesty I consider Gatti fights technical. Technical doesn't mean you have to be scared to get hit. The man HAS and USES technical boxing skills. His defense is just his offence and his movement. You don't have to be a counter puncher or some defensive wiz to be technical. And just cuz you can do other things that aren't technical shouldn't dismiss your technical abilities. Gatti sets up the majority of his effective punches by using good fundamentals.

Fatti throws punches with technique but other than that his fighting aproach isnt that much.(although he has boxed sometimes..)

I agree the guy knows how to throw a punch, and has decent skills, I guess it's the face first brawling that sticks in your mind, and it's hard to use the word technical with that style.

why not set the stage even further with Cotto-Mosley before Margarito-Cotto and Mosley-Margarito

I'd suggest Naseem Hamed vs Kevin Kelly. While it wasn't the most technical fight, it was a great fight.

graydon0 is a rookie! Class in session...
wow... so I watched Mosley vs Cotto and really loved Cotto's style...

Then I went to Margarito vs Cotto... I felt so betrayed with how the fight went! I was marvelling at what appeared, (to my admittingly untrained eye,) to be Cotto's phenominal boxing winning the fight... then when Margarito rocked him the first time I realized that it wasn't going to be enough to get him through... I didn't like seeing what I thought was the better boxer losing to a granite chin and a larger frame...

Then I went on to the Mosley vs Margarito fight, and say Mosley destroy him in the 8th and 9th round. An extremely enjoyable fight by itself, but I still had Cotto's loss on my mind.

Then I thought about how Margarito never had to fear Cotto at any point... how Cotto never attempted to follow up on any of his power shots..... And I felt alot better about the outcome of their fight.

I'm no expert, but in retrospect, if Cotto had been more aggresive with following up his succesful counter shots in the middle rounds, using his technical boxing in an offensive capacity, he would have been able to put more respect into Margarito eyes. If he had just been able to hurt him once early on, then, mentally, it could have gone differently in the later rounds.

But, then again, I suppose Cotto might have only gotten rocked earlier had he been more aggressive following up his counters.

Any way, thanks so much for the post, time for me to go back and check out the Gatti fights.

Nicely followed up Graydon.

A lot of people believe that whatever happens tactics wise in a Cotto / Marg re-match, the result will be the same, welcome to the great 'styles make fights' conundrum of boxing.
Earning Margarito's respect early on through following up on punches imo wouldn't of made much difference, he fights the same way no matter whats happening to him.

Margarito V Williams may interest you too.
And the recent Cotto V Clottey (not sure if you saw that) features technically a very gifted boxer.
