Talking James Toney Dumped From Adamek PPV Fight

Source: James Toney Dumped From Adamek PPV Fight - Boxing Forum

I read bscene a bit but I don't post there because the mods and users on that websites are all morons. I also think a lot of racists post on that website.

"Boxing scribe Chris Mannix is reporting via Twitter this evening that James “Lights Out” Toney has been pulled from a card on September 8 at the Prudential Center in New Jersey that would have seen him fighting a headline Polish Pay Per View match against Tomasz Adamek.

The bout has been widely criticized in the boxing press as a total mismatch between a current heavyweight contender and a long-past-his-prime and possibly brain-damaged 43-year-old fighter who owes over $350,000 in back taxes to the California State government.

Toney didn’t help his case when he videotaped a YouTube segment in which he threatened to go the ESPN offices and attack boxing scribe Dan Rafael, who criticized the Toney-Adamek match-up.

So far, no official reason has been given for the Toney cancellation. Boxing Insider will update this story as details become available."

(From Boxing Insider)

I wonder how James Toney is going to pay the money back if no one is giving him a fight...

James Toney up until just after the first Samuel Peter fight was always one of my favourite guys to watch. It's embarrassing watching him now though.

Good, he would have lost anyway. He needs to retire.

He can't retire... He owes money, and he doesn't know how to do anything else.

It's a neverending cycle. He gets a payday, he clears his debt then he has new bills to pay so he needs another payday. As long as he fights, he'll keep spending money thinking he'll get another payday soon.

He could go on a public speaking tour.

He might be able to get booked at Laugh Factory, Yuk-Yuk's and The Improv. Maybe Mike Tyson needs a warm-up for his upcoming Broadway one-man show.

Yeah, it's sad what Toney's become, especially if he's taking himself and his hype seriously. He should just declare bankruptcy. Which he couldn't do without subtitles.
