Sergio p4p No. 1?
With Pacquiao having lost to Bradley and Timothy hardly having the resume to back a number one spot in the rankings, Floyd has been ranked by most as the p4p best on the planet, although his fight out put in recent years hasn't been tremendous and quality of opponents lacking. So who here thinks, if Martinez beats Chavez Jr. and does so convincingly, he should be crowns the top boxer on the planet?
Personally, I think he should.

The last few fighters Chavez Jr. has fought weren't too bad, actually, so I think of Sergio beats Jr. in a brilliant fashion, I think it'd only be fair that at the VERY least it should be taken into consideration. I mean, Sergio himself has fought and beat several goode fighters his last few times in the ring. What with Floyd and Pac both fighting lackluster fighters the last few times eh... I just don't think either deserve the top spot as much as Sergio, should he beat Chavez.

I agree, especially if he manages to stop Chavez. Now that would be amazing.

I don't think any fighter at the moment beats Martinez at 154 or 160. Including mayweather if he has the courage to fight Martinez at 154.
Therefore if he beats chavez jr, he would be a worthy no.1

Hey, if Martinez manages to really bloody up Chavez, I'll be a happy boy, ha ha ha. Oh, did you see how smug he was in the later rounds in the Lee fight, god damn..... asshole...

This entire post is absurd haha.
Martinez has done about 20% of what Mayweather and Manny have accomplished in their careers. Especially for a category called POUND FOR POUND. The only thing he has done outside of 160 is win an interim title. If beating the #4 guy in your weightclass propels you up to #1 P4P, then Floyd and Manny must be #1AcloudROCKETSHIP P4P. This is ridiculous.
Maybe Martinez should show us what he's actually capable of on a POUND FOR POUND scale before we assume he'd be the best fighter in the world if they all weighed the same. Manny and Floyd have both beat men who were much bigger than themselves. Sergio has not. Until he does, I'd keep my money on guys who have been proven to be that good, instead of speculating about a guy who won't even try.

No, even if he beats Chavez in impressive fashion, he'd still be #4 on my list. I'd have Mayweather at the top with Pac or Marquez right behind him, then Martinez 4th. I can see someone saying that Martinez is ahead of Pac and Marquez for what he has accomplished over the last two years with this impressive run at MW, but I couldn't accept him being listed in front of Mayweather. The reason for this is I still feel if he and Mayweather were to ever fight, I'd pick Mayweather to win. Therefore, 2-4 is where I think he best fits.
