I'm rooting for Dawson but think Ward wins a decision. I can't stand the fact that Ward always fights in Oakland. Is Ward that big of a draw in Oakland that the fights can't be elsewhere? And the weight is ridiculous, because Ward couldn't move up 2 more pounds to make this fight a bit more fair for Dawson? I know this is a business but that is just a bit classless in my opinion.

I like Ward and don't mind Dawson either, and I wasn't happy about hearing that Dawson was going to come down to 168. I was always of the opinion that this fight should just happen naturally, and possibly when Ward decides to move up to the 175 division.
But Dawson needs to STFU about the catchweight.I was critical of him right from the beginning when I heard him call Ward out after the Hopkins fight, and said he will come down to 168 to fight him.
I didn't think Dawson should have been acting like a 'challenger' and offering to come down in weight. He is the one that said he will come down, so he needs to just shut up now.
About Ward fighting in Oakland? Well he may have a point there, but it's his own stupid fault for the fight being at 168.

Joe Calzaghe did this 99% of his career and many call him a legend...Ward is only 28 and is fighting in his hometown, yet folks trash him for it? Oakland is where he gets the most money and I'm glad there's no BS catch weight. The fight is for his title, he's the undefeated fighter, the S6 champ, and one of the top 5 P4P fighters in the world...so yes he gets to call the shots. That's just how it is...

You better be careful what you ask for. He asked for it, and got it, no need to talk about it now.

Didn't Calzaghe have one of the biggest draws in boxing tho? He sold what like 15,000-30,000 tickets when he fought or was it more? I remember people saying he was a huge draw. I don't think Ward has sold 30,000 tickets to an event yet has he?

Yeah but it took him almost his entire career to get to that point. Andre Ward just turned 28, I would say just give him time. At this time during Calzaghe's career, he was just the WBO champ fighting B and C class fighters. Ward has already surpassed that is getting better by the year. Ward is the future face of the US...his time will come.

Yeah I know, I'm ranking Ward above Calzaghe if he beats Dawson. Dawson is very talented so that weight excuse won't cut it for me. I think skill wise, Dawson is probably most talented fighter Ward has fought. Before that it was probably Kessler and he made Kessler look like a joke. Calzaghe and Ward have some similarities because both struggle with rugged/rough fighters like Bika. And anyone who didn't see the Bika/Calz, Bike/Ward fights do not go by boxrec because those scorecards are crap. Bika held his own against both fighters.
Calzaghe:
Lacy (??? marks on how good Lacy really was. The beating he took from Calzaghe may have been career ending. The very next fight Lacys shoulder was ruined and I don't know if that was related to the beating he took from Calzaghe at all or not but it could have been.)
Hopkins(Hopkins still looked good when Calz fought him tho this fight was ugly match-up where neither looked too impressive)
Kessler
Reid
Eubank(tho passed his best still a solid test for the upcoming Calzaghe)
Ward:
Kessler
Froch
Abraham
Miranda(tough rugged fighter even if not that good)
Chad Dawson

A loss right after the Super Six would be bad for Ward. But this not wanting to travel is starting to get silly. And it has nothing to do with him drawing more people in Oakland. His style isnt what casual boxing fans like. Ward has been getting his way with demands for so long its normal for him. Remember hes the SOG!
