No, but about a month ago he was hospitalized with some stomach ailment; the same one that whacked Brock Lesnar pretty hard too.

Diverticulitis, which Lesnar has, is generally not fatal.

Diverticulitis - PubMed Health

For Lesnar and others with this or similar problems (IDB, colitis, Crohns) it can be debilitating...pain, weakness, anemia, diarrhea, stomach upsets...a lot of athletes who get this condition simply retire. If it's a mild case, it can respond to medication and be put into remission.

It's possible Manny's problem was cancer...seems that way since the onset was so fast and fatal. Stomach cancer and pancreatic cancer can end things very quickly. It's possible Manny developed an abscess or infection and was one of the few who did end up with a fatal form of diverticulitis.

Perhaps his family will eventually provide more information, which could help others...while IDB-related illnesses just happen...stress and diet can be a factor, and people need to be aware of better eating habits, and finding ways of coping with pressure before the body starts breaking down.

Cancer of the lower instentin I think. Like Carob said they go fast when it hits the bowels. He probably didnt suffer much as Morphine will put a clamp on it while he passed away.I have heard cases where people have practicly sh!t out there whole stomach and intestines. But Manny didnt suffer at all.

Diverticulitis can be a complication of cancer...either way I never expected any of this to happen.

It's amazing how quick life can change. Back in early September/August he was being discussed as a possible trainer for Amir Khan. Now he's going to be 6 feet under a few days.

Sad but true And he was in such great shape for his age. Manny and Naz were both my favorite trainers...luckily Naz has overcome the after effects of his stroke and is back in business. I just wished the same for Manny. None of this has sunken in yet

To a great legend and outstanding man, may he rest in peace. It's really sad to think about. I thought he would be able to beat his ailments, given him being in great shape. But when things are bad, I guess you can't do too much. So sudden and tragic.
