Diverticulitis, which Lesnar has, is generally not fatal.
Diverticulitis - PubMed Health
For Lesnar and others with this or similar problems (IDB, colitis, Crohns) it can be debilitating...pain, weakness, anemia, diarrhea, stomach upsets...a lot of athletes who get this condition simply retire. If it's a mild case, it can respond to medication and be put into remission.
It's possible Manny's problem was cancer...seems that way since the onset was so fast and fatal. Stomach cancer and pancreatic cancer can end things very quickly. It's possible Manny developed an abscess or infection and was one of the few who did end up with a fatal form of diverticulitis.
Perhaps his family will eventually provide more information, which could help others...while IDB-related illnesses just happen...stress and diet can be a factor, and people need to be aware of better eating habits, and finding ways of coping with pressure before the body starts breaking down.
