Camacho Shot in the Face
From Associated Press:
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) -- Police in Puerto Rico say former boxing champion Hector "Macho" Camacho has been shot and critically wounded.
Camacho was shot in the face while in a car outside a bar in Bayamon, one of the cities that make up the San Juan metropolitan area. A statement from police in Bayamon said he was shot Tuesday night.
A second man also was shot and killed but authorities say it is not clear what relationship, if any, Camacho had with the other victim. The motive was unknown.
The 50-year-old former boxer was unconscious as he was taken to the trauma center at Centro Medico in San Juan. Hospital officials told reporters he was in serious condition.
UPDATE:
According to the medical director of the hospital, Camacho was struck once in the left jaw and the bullet traveled down his neck and lodged in his right shoulder. Along the way the bullet fractured his 5th and 6th cervical vertebrae and Camacho lost so much blood that he needed a transfusion. There was no mention of paralysis and doctors could not determine whether he had been struck by a second bullet.

From personal experience, I can say I didn't care for Camacho out of the ring, but I'm not happpy to see him get shot in the face either. I hope he makes it.

It's "macho time." He's going to have to be "muy macho," while unconscious. It's all up to whatever fighting spirit is in his body:
“This is the toughest fight in the life of Macho Camacho,” Ernesto Torres, director of the Rio Piedras Medical Center, said in a news conference on Wednesday morning.
Camacho was gravely injured in a drive-by shooting in Puerto Rico on Tuesday night. Torres said that Camacho suffered a heart attack at 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday.
“There has not been any improvement,” Torres said. “His heart has stopped working. We can give him medicine and his heart will pump again. There is brain activity, but very low. The neurological equipment is not being used. Right now, we can’t do anything,” Torres said.
“We are keeping him alive with medicine. He is a strong guy. We can maintain him several days like this to see if there is an improvement. Macho’s situation is very delicate. The prognosis is very poor,” Torres said.

I just read that 5 little packs of cocaine were found in his mate's pocket and one more open in the car...

Damn I hangout in that bar, this is f*cked up. You could see him every weekend partying here in PR, even though he wasn't a saint you never want to see this happen. They just confirmed brain death. I guess it's know matter of when do they unplug him.
He was one of the best defensive boxers of his era, an underachiever who could've made it further if he were more disciplined. 79-6-3 (38 ko)
 RIP El Macho

I'm not surprised one bit, that's just what he was into, who knows WTF happened , maybe he and the driver were trying to rip off the dealer and that is why they got capped... Puerto Ricans dealers don't mess around....
