Time for Freddy Roach and Manny to retire
Based on the performance of Amir Khan last night and the string of losses for Freddy, I think it is about time for Freddy to retire. He made quite an achievement, and made quite a lot of money, but all good things must come to an end. I've seen his health deteriorate lately, and we are all human, we all grow old, we all have to face the inevitable.
Even his prized fighter Manny will never be the same again, and he should retire too. I truly doubt that the blow to his head did not cause any damage to his brain, contrary to what doctors say. I think many of you believe that what is happening to Freddy and Ali was caused by the sport of boxing.
Now it is an opportunity for the younger generation of boxers and trainers to rise. Time for Deontay Wilder to give a good challenge to the Klitchkos. Good display of skill by Nonito Donaire last night, and congratulations to Robert Garcia for his string of winnings.

I'd be inclined to agree with you if Pac hadn't looked as good as he did before the knockout. We'll just have to wait and see.
I don't think Khan's win says anything about the quality of Roach as a trainer. I do think his health might be slipping slightly, but at this point if Manny does continue fighting it's not going to be with anyone other than Roach. And if Freddie does happen to retire, it'll just be from the big leagues, he'll still train up and coming fighters. Boxing is what's keeping him healthy at this point.

I think Pac wins a 5th fight if it is done.
I am tired of reading post stating that a guy should retire because of one punch.
I don't know , maybe the Fraziers and those guys were real men and what we have now are Barbie dolls fighting...

Kahn no longer trained by Roach. He's with Virgil Hunter now.
Regarding Pac, I think he has a lot left in the tank. He just needs to make sure he still has the hunger to fight. He was winning the fight and was starting to hurt Marquez, but got sloppy and overeager against a guy who's been specifically training to counter him with big right hands.

I'm not sure if OP was referring to Khan's win, saying "Look he won, because he's not with Roach" or "Look Khan is still the same even if he won, because he's with Roach", which would be an incorrect presumption.
I thought it was the former, so I was saying that just because Khan wins without Roach, doesn't mean Roach isn't a good trainer.

Let's face it Khan looked just OK against a midget who couldn't punch, WHILE HE STILL MAY BE ABLE TO GET HIMSELF IN GOOD SHAPE, his chin will betray him at any point, he'll be ok as long as he doesn't face any puncher with guts to mix it up.......AS far as Paquaio goes, he was winning the fight just fine but got over eager and ran straight into one, he very likely will win if they fight again as Marquez foot work is detiorating and he's getting slower with age

Khan was still getting nailed with counter hooks and rights over the top. If Molina could crack harder, we'd have seen Khan on his butt once again. Roach was not the problem, Khan and his chin were the problem. Virgil is a very good trainer, but he's not going to be able to fix what is in Amir's chin, and he's not going to be able to raise Amir's natural (or lack of) ring IQ.
A guy like Marquez or Garcia would lay Khan out again. Good timing beats good speed everyday of the week, especially when the guy with good speed has the ring IQ of a tree. Khan is bound to be knocked out again, the next time he steps up in class and faces a good counter puncher with good power he'll once again find himself on the canvas.

That's just a bad way of looking at it, brother. Amir looked great against Garcia until he got KTFO. Manny looked good/great against JMM until he got KTFO. The problem is, no matter how great you look, if you're trained to leave your chin/face out there, you get KTFO.
The best offense on Earth can't stop you from getting KTFO.
Freddie needs to bring in a second trainer that can train these guys defensively, because he does not. He owes it to his fighters to do this, or he needs to hang up his mitts.

I think it's absurd to say that Pacquiao should retire because he got knocked out. I mean really? I don't think so. He can probably end up winning a 5th bout between he & Marquez. What would REALLY cement Marquez's legacy though? A second win in a row vs. Pac-Man.

why the obsession with fighters retiring?
A fighter Looses a fight and every body starts the "retiring BS"
Pac has had his share of Ws, i don't have a problem with getting his share of Ls. the same goes for Khan and every other fighter.
Some fighters loose and come back hungry-er. Some fighters i want to see loose.
