I haven't seen any of his fights, so I'm not aware of his level or skills, his record looks quite decent so I ask you guys if Rees is a fighter who could give Broner some troubles or if Rees could actually win the match.

Or maybe this is just a tune up fight? I don't know. :???:

It's a very good fight for Broner when you consider everything else:
Burns and Vazquez are tied up with each other
Abril and Bogere are tied up with each other

Thats 4 of the top 10 or so guys already tied up, Broner is another of the top 10,

For me it Rees is a solid option (only Eduard Troyanovsky would have been a better choice from the possibilities of guys currently at 135). He's a former world champion (WBA at 140) and current European champion, making him a solid opponent. Yeah Broner will beat him, but Broner will beat anyone at 135 at the moment anyway.

I admit you have a point there, but let's accept it would have been much entertaining a Broner v Burns fight, which turned down because of financial issues according to many sources.

Cherry picking Broner. If you want to be the best you have to fight the best. I agree Broner vs. Garcia would have been a great fight. Gavin Rees won 37 (KO 18) + lost 1 (KO 1) + drawn 1 = 39 fights at 32 years old, the list of his fight opponents are not very significant losing only to Andriy Kotelnyk in 2008 in the UK. Impressive record but not the best.
