Jones was outworked by a shot Trinidad in the first half of his last fight. There's no way he's going to be able to cope with Calzaghe over 12 rounds. Jones best chance is to go all out for the early KO and even that would suit Calzaghe because he wants Jones to come forward. This fight is Calzaghe's unless he makes a big mistake and Jones gets lucky.

It was the first 3 rounds, and he was just checking to see what tito had. Roy Dominated every round after..........

Definitely a likely possibility, though I can see Roy doing the same thing Hopkins did (more often) and punch and cleanly catch Joe in between his flurries while he's laying on the ropes. If RJ can do that and while they are in the middle of the ring get off body shots and clean right hands he will win. Roy has been ko'd and outworked by solid punchers, I don't think a slapping Calzaghe can beat him.
The burden of proof is on Roy though, to prove he can handle Calzaghe not the other way around, but I think Calzaghe's style is tailor made for Jones, all he has to do is throw 3 for Calzaghe's 5. Calzaghe's chin is over rated to me and he will caught in between a flurry and be staggered more than once, he will be knocked out.

Very good post
Calzaghes chin is a little overrated, because he's been knocked down by not so big hitters. I mean of course we all know jones was ko'ed by tarver and johnson but theres good reasoning for that, jones has been hit by much harder hitters and took it with ease.
I dont think Jones is going to be afraid of a slap. I see titos power > joes current power. I think jones puts it all out on the line.

If you just look at the compubox it seems that way. But if you watched the fight you would see that RJ ate three rounds to see how Tito was going to come at him...then RJ started to turn it on in the 4th and it was smooth sailing after that...just because he did that to Tito doesn't mean he's going to do that against Cal...in fact Cal's workrate is more of a reason to start off early...

Tito outworked Jones in the majority of the first half of the fight and then he faded. Calzaghe won't fade that much as the fight goes on.

No way Jones knocks him out, Calzaghe will be much harder to hit that Jones' recent opponents. Roy is shot and will get outworked at least 8-4 IMO. Jones will need to get of to a good start, but even if he does, he won't be able to maintain this for 12 rounds. This fight is a given, I hope the bookies see this fight the way some of you do.

Tito's punches were extremely diluted at 170 and Jones still couldn't knock him out.

I agree that he has to come out early and make a statement. Tito outworked Roy in about 4 of the first 6, if he starts like that against Joe he's no chance of winning the fight.

Spot on.

Watch the fight, 3 rounds......

It'll be closer than you think, put up some points on that 8-4 scoring.
Tito's punches were extremely diluted at 170 and Jones still couldn't knock him out. Tito can still punch at 170, but it's not like the top guys at 175. It'll most likely be harder than joe's slaps. Tito punches with conviction, Calzaghe doesnt.
The mostly likely situation is that RJ is going to aim for the body early on. Cal will press the fight with his slaps but with every 3-4 slaps he will eat a solid punch. If Cal hops in and tries to flurry RJ like he did B-Hop he will get dropped more than once mark my words. We all know he leaves his chin wide open when he hops in the danger zone and that'll be a perfect opportunity for one of his patented uppercuts. Some act like RJ is going to come foward like a Peter Manfredo or a Lacy ....you're talking about a fighter who's never came at anyone like that. He systematically destroys his opponents as he hopefully will against Cal. Cal will have to force the fight enable to put his workrate on the board...it doesn't work the other way around...

Exactly the point I made, him interrupting the flurries with a clean punch will be a major key for Roy to win the fight. When you said that, I had been working on a gif thats the perfect example of that.
