RJ is a former P4P champ that has been a champion in 4 different weight classes, and the only man to beat Toney convincingly at his prime. That seems worthy to me. I can make the argument around and say Cal hasn't fought stiff competition until the end of his career. In this day and age, RJ has redefined the term P4P, something that Cal will never do IMO

Good post. Some guys just can't read the first post and make a comment about how they think the fight will go without regurgitating their biased opinions.

IMO...RJ has the more punching power and skill; but Calzaghe has the better punching output and mobility. RJ gets off quicker but Calzaghe can throw more punches at once at this point. Nevertheless it has been said that Cal cannot hurt RJ since Cal slaps. And when Cal actually does load up on his punches he is noticably slower. RJ stays on the ropes more than he should but he lands deadly left hooks in that position a la Hanshaw and Trinidad. RJ also throws deadly right hand leads that are more devastating than B-Hop's right hands. For me there is no evident advantage...I guess you can favor Cal for a UD since he could possibly out throw Roy like he did B-Hop. But how will he take those body punches and will he be able to stay from those right hand leads? How will Cal box him since RJ gets off quicker. Can RJ stay off the ropes? Will RJ be aggressive early to test Cal's chin? These are all questions that can only be answered on fight night but I want to hear some other perspectives from others and see if we can get a sensible debate going on in which we can exchange knowledge as well as educated opinions...
Thought I should put that in bold

I think Calzaghe beats him. But I think Jones will hold his own. Joe by 2 rounds.

Can't argue with that...that seems realistic. Me personally I want to see how Cal responds to RJ's punching power because I don't think he's ever felt as much power in what RJ has to offer even in this stage of his career.

I'm going with Jones. I think he'll pull off the last great performance of his career and beat Cal

I think Joe's workrate would give Jones some problems, especially because Jones doesnt look like his legs are entirely there anymore, so if he stays on the ropes he might be in trouble.
In the other hand Calzaghe might be surprised because he has never faced anybody that nears Jones when it comes to handspeed, in fact Joe never faced anybody with quicker hands than his, this would be the first time.

as much as I like Jones its hard not to favor Calzaghe at this stage.. but well, you can never count jones out

theboz19 is on a distinguished road
I see Cal winning the UD with his workrate. However, he will get hit more often and cleaner than he ever has. RJ must be salivating at all of those counter-punching opportunities. I wouldn't be shocked if RJ got the KO victory but I just don't see it happening.

I've read a lot of comments about Cal not having any power because he slaps. I will agree that he is not a puncher but if he had no power he would not be undefeated after all of these years. Maybe we should interview Jeff Lacy and ask him about Joe's power?
