mayweather is in the lead. even though i do think he bitched out at 147, he could easily make 140 imo. he has the better legacy
p4p legacy calzaghe does since he has only know been recognised and can make fights. because i read his biography i know the first 20 in his career were bums before he got a title shot. only when he joined frank warren did he get a chance. unfortunately frank warren didn't give him any big names until lacy. atleast he has a chance to make up for it. he better not retire because he did say it depends on how he looks vs roy. if he had 2 bad perforances in a row like hopkins and then a bad one for roy it would be over. physically he is starting to get cuts etc and he never use to so he gotta work fast to capitalise on this opportunity to making big bucks and big names. ricky hatton wanted to retire at 30 but just couldn't. boxing is too addictive to retire
Hate all you want but you didn't vote for Calzaghe...
Of course I didn't vote Calzaghe. I don't think you'll find more than a handful of people vote Calzaghe here which makes this thread pretty suspect. You should have just called the thread, let's trash Calzaghe because that sounds like what you were aiming for?

Damn right it is, the only reason it was started was because he saw the Floyd comments in the Hopkins legacy thread and got mad, that $hits just weak.

LOL I'm one of the only non british dudes who gave Calzaghe his props and said his career was somewhat similar to Floyd's (although not as good IMO). I also said there's noone at 168 or 175 that can beat him right now. Yeah I clearly wanna trash him.
Comparing Mayweather to Hopkins was clearly a hate move though.

Better legacy for what they achieved and accomplished I would say is probably Mayweather. I really wish Joe would have crossed the pond to fight B-Hop, RJJ, and the likes years earlier so that those fights wouldnt be held against him. BUT, I think that because he was protected for so long and came out to fight these guys when they were both far past their primes, AND that they were really the biggest names of his career, that Floyd wins this one. I think Joe is a heck of a fighter, but I think his management did his legacy a great disservice by not getting these types of fighters while they were still elite competition.
Mayweather fought at Super Featherweight for 26 fights (and defended his title 8 times) before moving up in weight to
Lightweight. He captured the WBC title and fought 4 fights at Lightweight.
Then he moved up to Light Welterweight, captured the title, and fought 3 fights at light welter. Then he moved up yet again and fought 3 fights at Welterweight, capturing the title. After that he stepped up for one fight at light middleweight and captured another title. Then he went back down to welter and fought another fight, defending his title.
Mayweather has captured the title in 5 weightclasses. (Super featherweight/Lightweight/Light Welterweight/Welterweight/Light Middleweight)
He fought the VAST majority of his career at 130lbs and moved as high up as 154.
I think his opposition could have been a bit better, just as Joe Calzaghe's could have. BUT, on achievements in the sport and overall legacy left, I think Floyd Mayweather wins this one.
So, at least for now, as Joe is not retired yet...my vote goes to Mayweather)

Yeah, you give Calzaghe props one minute and then make a poll that he has absolutely no chance of winning the next. Sounds like the is some underlying hatred there. It's ok man, let it all out.
