Guys like CJ need to start a Mayweather vs Margarito fund so they can meet Floyd's 20 million dollar quota. That's about the only way Margarito is ever going to be worth that kind of money. And since it's Margarito's fans that crave this so much, why shouldn't they pay for it?

SS, this thread was quite reactionary because I am beginning to get very annoyed at people saying that Mayweather is ducking Margarito. It is just crazy talk
I know, but get used to it from the Margarito stans.
If he loses to Williams, he probably screws up the rematch with Cotto.
The mat would be: 4 mil for Williams + Cotto payday(bigger chance the second part doesnt come)
or 2mil + Cotto payday (almost guaranteed)
Margarito's camp has stated that even if he loses to Mosley, the Cotto rematch is still on. When Cotto beats down Michael Jennings, he'll have a "title" which will give Margarito/Cotto II enough legitimacy to make it happen whether Marg loses to Williams or not.
So, IMO, the business sense still isn't there. We're talking a guaranteed 4 million. It's not as if Marg fades into oblivion if he loses to PW again.
I certainly don' think he's the most overrated. The guy is a heck of a fighter and clearly gets all that hype for a good reason. He's got a terrific chin, he has a very high work rate and he can punch. Pressure fighters that can take a punch are very dangerous.
Another reason Paul Williams is such a beast.

I didn't criticize the other Welters that were lining up for DLH, Mayweather, etc. instead of facing Margarito, and I'm going to criticize Margarito if he know turns around and hunts for a bigger payday than a rematch with Williams would bring. I in no way think Margarito or Williams have any reservations about fighting each other again, in fact I think BOTH fighters look forward to that day, but how many here go into work each morning and look for the harder task for the lesser money?
I don't think the task difficulty comes into the equation. I don't believe in that risk/reward thing. It's all about the reward unless you're an up & coming fighter.
