"There's a lot of it about," as Spike Milligan used to say.
The Iranian President is at the U.N., ready to give another insane hate speech this week.
What else?

Oh, maybe this forum, being public, should be careful about pictures. I hope nobody shows a vintage shot of Ali holding up the check he received for winning the Rumble in the Jungle. In this climate, no photos of the profit of Muhammad.

Thought the "messy weekend" meant the possibility of riots or something like that...

Which is an ever-present possibility most everywhere. What came to mind was Iranian President My Mood I'm a Dinnner Jacket's scheduled speech this week at the U.N. - that's always good to start trouble.

What was the other thing...oh yeah, the pun. Can't show the prophet Mohammed -- so maybe not even a photo of the profit of Muhammad. You never know what sets people off.

Funny, the Christians and Jews seem fine with depictions of Christ and Moses. Even God. But the zany Muslims become violent over any notion of what Mohammed may have looked like. Don't draw it, don't even think it. Or you die. "A fine religion," as Dubya Bush said. Oh yeah, and wash your feet constantly and get out your compass and bow down toward where Decca Records had a factory. Or Necco wafers were invented. Oh, Mecca. That's right, put your hands outstretched and grovel toward where you think Mecca might be. Failing that, decapitate a Wall Street Journal reporter.

"Mind control" is a bit too Fascistic for me...that's not religion that's "cult." It's also a sign of fear and insecurity when you can't tolerate an opposing view. People are so doubtful about their own religion they get so easily bent if somebody says "I don't believe in what you believe?" Why should you care if somebody else is going to hell and you're not, because you're so sure of your Invisible Friend?

But I digress...

when i said messy weekend I meant ill be drunk lol but yes im 95% sure there will be riots this is Northern Ireland it doesnt take much for a riot to start 100,000 Protestants parading is good enough excuse for anyone LOL...

I didnt hear the Iranian Presidents speach but all religion is a cult the Muslims start when anyone depicts Mohammad and you say Christians dont but when was the last time you heard of a Muslim mocking jesus or Moses? I have never heard that I just hear other Christians doing that!

People need to respect one an others beliefs especially knowing that certain people take it to heart when John lennon said the beatles are bigger than jesus people burned there albums in the streets especially those fuked up Americans nutcases I dont think that happened in the UK at all so it does happen

Good point.

Although Muslims don't have a great sense of humor in the first place. Has a Muslim comedian turned up on 'Mock the Week?' Seems the funniest Arab comedian is Sacha Baron Cohen!

The funniest Arab is probably a tie between two Lebanese, Danny Thomas and Jamie Farr, who both took most of their schtick from their Jewish comedian friends.

I agree that it's not nice to make fun of religion, because people who are into it are so insecure about it. If you really have faith, nothing should be able to shake it, not floods, car accidents, a boxer being shot in the stomach and dying, or somebody telling a joke.

It's just that religious people set themselves up for ridicule, and rightly so. They have to dress like idiots with beanies, dresses, bathrobes, gold doo-dads around their necks...tell ridiculous stories about parting the sea or walking on water...and engage in moronic rituals of foot cleansing (Muslims), waving a chicken over their heads (Orthodox Jews in some kind of koshering ritual), or cutting down a perfectly good tree in a forest so it can die in your house a week later (forgot who those people are...not Druids.)

Mahmoud's speech, as usual, declared Israel is just a punk diversion (Muslims, he claims, have been around 10,000 years, Jews a mere 2,000. I guess he'd include Christians among the cipher-blips as well). He says they've only been a nation since the 1940's and have no right to a homeland and should be wiped off the map. And, oh yeah, his country is NOT building weapons of mass destruction, they just need to build dangerous nuclear materials in secret areas. As the killer in the movie "Frenzy" liked to say..."LOVELY!" Obama is asking that the U.N. session be a summit on rising tensions, and Mahmoud comes in and creeps everyone out.

Lennon. He was barely a kid at the time, and I think he meant that he and the boys were being idolized, somewhat irrationally. It had to be as frightening as it was flattering to be viewed as a God by all the Beatlemaniacs. And nobody, especially 4 lads from Liverpool, had seen such mass hysteria for entertainers before. The Sinatra fans included a lot of paid ringers, and it was confined mostly to certain venues where he played. Martin & Lewis had mobs outside their hotel rooms too...but they weren't selling the pillow cases they slept on, and stores weren't loaded with cards, dolls, toys and wigs!

But yeah, let's not forget that like the U.K., the U.S.A. is actually a collection of regions, many with their own dialect. It was mostly the nuts in the religious South who became offended, and took the bonfires they had built to lynch blacks, and threw black vinyl on instead. John did learn his lesson. So he later sang, "Imagine...no religion."

Sacha Baron Cohen is jewish I think.. Lennon said there more popular than Jesus in 1966 he was 26 at the time he wasnt a mere kid LOL I dont no what he really meant maybe he just meant what he said that they are more popular than Jesus and thats it! Lennon was an atheists after all.

Well its true Israel has only been a state from 1946 in Iran Muslims Jews and Christains all live with no trouble really Israel is the one that is always on about Irans Nuks ect ect same old crap!

Recently in Israel a group of Jews that actually oppose Israel wrote 'The Zionist leadership wanted the Holocaust' and 'If Hitler hadn't existed, the Zionists would have invented him.'
'Thank you Hitler for your wonderful Holocaust that you arranged for us, it's only because of you that we got a state at the UN.'

I think they oppose there own Country because they believe only god can give them a state not the UK or the UN.

Yes, Cohen's Jewish, and his impersonations of Arabs are pretty funny (I'm surprised he hasn't received a fatwa...).

Just why the Arab world has gone so nuts in the past dozen years...I have no idea. The region was never stable (Nassar, Moshe Dayan, various wars, etc.) but killing people over cartoons is beyond insane.

Mahmoud's the guy talking about the extermination of Israel and unlike Saddam, he isn't "hinting" he is building nuclear weapons, he's saying outright that he's working on it. He's just lying about how his country wouldn't dream of using nuclear capabilities against any particular bunch of people who don't happen to be Muslim.

The United Nations doesn't consider this a trivial matter. As for NY's leading tabloid...oh, Mahmoud! I don' think he needed a translator for it:

The Muslim world has a right to defend themselves against the jews if the USA is Nuclear Armed and Israel is Iran has a right to defend itself this isnt a new thing the Muslims have been fighting the Christains and Jews for 1000's of year.

What needs to happen is the USA and Israel need to mind there own business and say we will disarm are Nuks and you end your programmes not well have Nuks and attack Iran for building them.
If the world does start dropping Nuks then it will be the end of Humanity its a disgrace.

As for Israel it has only been a Jewish state from 1946 the Muslims have every right to live there like they have done.
the Jews have a right to call a land there own as well but it needs to be done in a peace-full way.

The problem is theres no respect

Really...which Jews would those be? The ones who blew up the World Trade Towers, or the ones who slice the heads off journalists for the Wall Street Journal? The ones who declare that an author should be murdered because he wrote a book, or the ones who have blown up buildings over a few cartoons?

In other words, if you saw four Orthodox Jews walking toward you on the street, or four men in Muslim garb...which would worry you more?

The stakes are higher now. We're talking about world annihilation. The main guy in Iran is telling the world, point blank, that Israel has no right to exist. It should be "eliminated." I don't hear that from the USA or Israel.

I don't think the U.N. believes in this policy. Most leaders around the world do not want one rogue psycho to destroy things...whether it's the nut in Iran, the nut in North Korea, or some other maniac trying to hold the world for ransom.

The answer to the Nuclear Arms race is to stop it. It would be great if it never started, but we can't have any more countries with weapons, especially countries that are totally instable, and run by religious fanatics who actually think they'll be going to heaven if they get blown up.

Most of them live in peace. There are Palestinians in Israel...a lot. There are all kinds in Israel. It's Iran that somehow thinks that Israeli people have absolutely no right to be there. They'll scream and holler about the Koran, but they dismiss the Bible, which talks quite a bit about a place called Israel.

Right, the president of Iran doesn't respect the right of Israel to exist, which is nothing new. Hitler wasn't very respectful either. You forget history, and it'll repeat itself on you, like a bad Mexican dinner.

What surprises me is how often "rational" people, "civilized" people, look at an ugly, destructive, vicious dictator with a history of bloodthirsty acts and murderous rhetoric...and say, "Oh, not so bad. Leave the fellow alone. He was probably provoked." Huh? Two words: Neville Chamberlain.

Here's a guy who didn't pay much attention when Hitler began making people disappear. When Hitler began invading countries. Oh well, Poland. OK, he'll stop at Poland, right? No, he didn't. He kept invading. Oh well, he'll stop eventually. The man is doing good things for his people, as is Mussolini.

I don't think Churchill would be saying "Leave Mahmoud alone" or "Let Iran have nuclear weapons." What's going on in England? People aren't listening to Gran? They don't know about the "finest hour," and how Hitler, now showing his full-fledged madness, was trying to destroy every innocent man woman and child in the U.K.? That youngsters were being taken by their parents to live in more isolated locations where Hitler's planes might not reach? Michael Caine was one of those boys.

There's no reason for Iran to have Nuclear weapons. The situation is bad enough as it is...bombs leveling schools, planes leveling buildings...the Iranians could care less if they blew up a million Muslims and destroyed the entire Holy Land if it meant Israel was a pit like the World Trade Center was back on 9/11.

Never, ever back down to tyranny. And know what real tyranny is. Look at the face of the Iranian President, and the face of the American President. Hear what they say. I also think that Blair, Brown, Major, Cameron -- they all stand against Iran, not because they are so in love with America and dependent on America, but because they remember what went on in the U.K. in the 1940's, and they recognize a sly, savage, evil man when they see and hear one.
