How much reach is a big advantage ?

Just looking at the heavy weights on Box rec and one thing that strikes me is how much their reach varies from fighter to fighter.

218 cm vs 198cm .. 20 cm. Must obviously be a big advantage.

208 cm vs 198cm .. 10 cm. Big advantage ?

David Haye (198 cm) 2010-11-13 Audley Harrison (218 cm).

So how much of a reach in a definitive advantage ?

A long reach is an advantage only if you have a good jab and you are good boxing at distance...

... but if your opponent is good enough closing the distance and is good getting on the inside, then that advantage is gone.
