What do youguys reckon was the best Rocky movie ever made. My view is that all the Rocky's were good, but because of the politics and what happened before the fight, it has to be Rocky 4 for me. Some love it, some hate it. What are your opinons?

In order of best to worst...

1. Rocky
2. Rocky Balboa
3. Rocky II
4. Rocky III
5. Rocky IV
6. Rocky V

Mind you... III, IV, and V were entertaining... and V gets such a bad rap... sure... it was the worst of the series... but it was better than most of the crap Hollywood produces nowadays. IV was very over the top... even more over the top than III. It was really offensive that Sly got non-Russian actors to put on the American Interpretation of a Russian-English accent to play The Soviets/Communists... and I read somewhere that Ivan Drago's punch was more powerful than some shotguns! Still... VERY ENTERTAINING... unbelievable... but entertaining!

Rocky II and Rocky I were the most believable... and even Rocky Balboa... despite the age of the main character! I know a lot of strong, in-shape, fit, and/or heart-filled old guys... it's possible... I kid you all not!

The last one he made...Rocky Balboa, he looked funny espeicually I don't know if you noticed by he had a 5 inch gut with a 6pack on the tip of it lol. And his pecs were at his ribs lol.

I never had all that much interest in the popular fictional "Rocky" created by Sylvester Stallone for movies.

Yet I did see the first movie.

I more perfer the genuine articule. The REAL "Rocky" ... Rocky Marciano .. who was considered to be too small, too old, too clumsy to ever become more than a journey man club fighter, his was a greater story told by Evertt M. Skehan in his book UNDEFEATED (2005), of sacrifice, determination, and beating the odds than the popular fictional "Rocky" created by Sylvester Stallone for movies.

When you read UNDEFEATED you'll understand why Rocky Marciano defied them all and became one of the nonpareil champions in boxing history.

As for the making of boxing movies by hollywoood film producers, there is only one I'd ever seen that I really liked all that much. The was the Jake LaMotta story "THE RAGING BULL." That movie came out back in the early 1980s. In 1980, I think it was. It was the best movie about a boxer I think that I'd ever seen.

Rocky, was the best of the Rocky movies. Oh and by the way "Rocky" was not based on Marciano. It was based on the Ali vs Wepner, which inspired Sly to write the script for "Rocky".

Yes, very popular! Not sure really why I didn't care all that much for the movie.

Maybe its because I've never really cared all that much for fiction and created fictional characters.

I knew the movie wasn't based on the REAL Rocky! That is, Rocky Marciano.

But I hadn't realized that the Ali-Wepner fight was what inspired Sylester Stallone to write the script for the fictional character "Rocky" he created for movies. I find that quite interesting.

Just in passing, I did see the movie ROCKY MARCIANO and have the tape ... and I didn't really care all that much for that movie either.

While the story and the acting appeared to be good. I think it was the protrayal of Rocky in the fights scenes that I didn't care for.

I think its because I've seen many of Rocky fights and have the tapes, and it just didn't look much like Marciano to me in the fight scenes of that movie.

Those guys didn't know how to fight! (smiling)

And he fight scenes wetre just to exaggerated you know what I'm saying.

I saw the fight scenes as being terrible acting in that movie and didn't look any thing like the way Rocky fought to me.

I think that's why I didn't care for it all that much.

It may be that I'm just hard to please when it comes to boxing movies.

The only one I can remember seeing that I ever really liked as the Jake LaMotta story, "THE RAGING BULL. I thought he was the best one I'd ever seen.

I saw the Ali movie also, I thought it was a good movie. But I can't say that I was really all that impressed with that movie either.

Raging Bull I give an 8 out of 10, and the movie Ali made in 2003 about a 7 out of 10. Will Smith did a good job. If he was able to get that kind of tricky foot work down and not even be a boxer, it just shows how crappy the heavyweights are today.
