They didn't hate each other untill they were scedualed to fight. Joe used to help ali out financaly when ali was in his forced retirement. When ali got his boxing licence back and started to promote the fight calling joe an uncle tom, was what made joe dislike him. Theres a book out, I think its called the sole of the butterfly, and it was written by one of ali's daughters, and contains alot of ali's poetry. One of the poems is dedicated to joe and his family, and it is kind of ali's way of appologizing for things that he said and did. However from what ive seen of joe hes not to forgiving.
