Tyson was crawling around on the deck trying to put his mouthpiece back into his mouth which he never was able to do....he was toast.

Actually Buster was in great shape for a change!
He then put a ton of weight back on and never was a serious boxer again.

But hey, he was "The Champ".

I also remember the Japanese crowds just following Tyson everywhere he went before the fight. He looked so disinterested about the whole deal.
Yup, Douglas fought the fight of his life...then went on to put about 40lbs of fat around his stomach and fight Evander Holyfield unprepared.

Tyson 50-6-2, he had so many 1 round KOs it wasn't funny early on but besides his ring record his personal record is like a bad soap opera or really bad novel.

I almost forgot Cus died in 1985. Also Robin Givens and her crazy mother, his throwing furniture out of the house, ramming his car into a tree. Blowing all of his money, it goes on and on.

Still he was "the baddest man on the planet" for awhile.

That's why these P4P discussions are fun!
There maybe 10 or 15 good candidates.....and we all have ours.
Cus died in 1985, so that's when Mike's run ins with the law got out to the public. Mike never stayed out of trouble, Cus just paid a lot of people off and had enough connections to keep it within the household. Teddy Atlas was fired from the camp because Mike tried to molest his neice, so he went out into an alleyway, pulled Mike in as he went by, and he smacked him and roughed him up. He then pulled a gun to Mike's head and told him if he ever did it again, he would be dead.

If Mike had a straight head and wasn't such a wild animal, yes animal, then he would have been a top 10 heavyweight for sure.

I remember seeing a pic of Buster not long after the Tyson fight in Columbus sitting on a Harley.

He looked like the "before" picture for Weight Watchers.
Must have been on the KFC extra crispy diet

Still Tyson makes my Top 10.

no one just tugs mike tyson in to an ally and "rough's him up" especially teddy atlas, mike would've ruined him.

Atlas was a very good street fighter and is really a very tough person. Do you think he was born with that scar on the side of his head? Teddy was a promising amateur until his eye got messed up.

Obviously he got Mike by surprise so it'd make it a lot easier. Also, the gun helps too. It's not like it was a fair fight.

No it doesn't. The count starts when the fighter goes to the neutral corner. That's why Tunney wasn't counted out against Dempsey. Dempsey wouldn't go to the neutral corner. And that's one of the reasons why Clay-Liston II was so controversial. Referee Walcott did the right thing in letting Liston continue because Clay didn't go to the neutral corner, but Nat Fleisure (time keeper) screwed up and said Liston should have been counted out.

Sugar Ray Robinson IMO.

He had it all: a great chin, excelent footwork, solid defense, big heart, excelent counter-punching abilities, tremendous left-hook, great speed and power, and could put punches together like very few in history.

Harry Greb should be in the talk too.
