Remember Leija, "The Texas Tornado?"

I recently scribbled this profile of Jesse James Leija:

Jesse James Leija: One Tough Hombre

Any thoughts or memories on Leija's career?

I've never seen a fight of his, but I've heard about him quite a bit. I would love to see one of his fights. What was his style and what was his impact on his era?

Heh. Click the link above - I wrote all about that

One of the great things about the modern web is how many old fights are out there on it. For example, here is Oscar de la Hoya vs. Jesse James Leija, although that one is more of a reminder of when de la Hoya was a wrecking ball than anything else.

Oh, I must admit, I usually don't click on links...

rumbavladi is on a distinguished road
Leija was one of my favorite boxers of the time. The guy fought his butt off!

Yeap. He was one solid guy, and loads of fun to watch.

Then go back to the top of the thread, and check the profile I did of the guy. Jesse James Leija isn't ancient history - he was active in the '90s and earlier this decade, and fought a lot of names I'm sure you will recognize.
