The size means nothing, and in Rocky's case it was even an advantage for reasons in being the way he was. He had the power, he had the stamina, he had the punch, he had the strategy and used strategy. He had the skill, he had the heart and the mental toughest.

On top of all that he refused to lose, his determination was unmatched.

You can say all you want, BUT most people that really know boxing, would not agree!
When you say size doesn't mean anything, PLEASE stop already!

the funny thing about it is if rocky was fighting today he'd be a cruiserweight, the way the sport was evolving they had to bring another weight class between hw and lightheavy the fighters were just getting bigger all the time. could you imagine rocky fighting nikoly valuev who stands over 7ft tall weighing over 300lbs

Its a creation of shrew promoters to have a larger assortment of more belts which was established for the purpose of making more money. It all about the money!

I agree with that!

Actually it all started when a Champion wouldn't box a #1 contender. Someone had to say, YES, you have too, or we will take your title away.

Years ago, the Champion didn't have to box the top guys. Now at least they have too, or there title will be taken away.

I only wish that they would all get together so we can have only ONE Champiuon in each division.

I agree with that.. there are way too many "titles" floating around today.

Several years ago I had to introduce Iran Barkley when I was Ring Announcing. I said, here's the only boxer to beat Tommy Hearns twice, the former Middleweight, Super Middleweight, Light Heavyweight Champion of the World, Iran Barkley. He came in the ring and took a bow and then told me that he was also the former Heavyweight Champion of the World too.

He Stopped Gerrie Coetzee back in 1997 to win the WBB Heavyweight Championship of the World.

Are you kidding me!

With all do respect to Iran Barkley...

Would that be the "Warner Bros. Boxing" HW Championship??

Edit: I was just looking at Iran's record on boxrec, Henry. His fight against Duran back in Feb. of '89 sure does have some funny looking scoring. Did you ever see this fight?

Yea, a good friend of mine was one of the judges and he scored it 116-112 Duran.

It just seems like there was quite a bit of difference between the two that scored it for Duran and the one that scored it for Barkley. Not that this is unheard of at all, it just seemed to be a little bit of a range.

I'm sure Duran won the fight... although I've never watched it.
