Just because he wasn't renowned as a puncher... doesn't mean he couldn't kick your ass! Jake would just keep going and going and going... he'd want to beat you badly and never, ever gave up... he'd throw as many punches as he could until his opponent was down and out... Jermain Taylor would last a while... but he'll LOSE!

He is obviously one of the greats of boxing, but answer this. When people talk about who the best pund for pound boxer ever, he is never up there, why is this. He is only 52 in this list.

it may be to do with the fact that jake was always in ray robinsons shadow, i would certinly have him ranked higher than 52.

LaMotta who I met many times and was one mean guy, had several off nights to be rated any higher. He just had the style to give Sugar Ray Robinson all kinds of trouble, BUT in most of there bouts, he out weighed Robinson by several pounds.

Jimmy Reeves, Nate Bolden & Cecil Hudson all beat him and Ossie Harris, who had a 20-19 record at the time, lost to LaMotta twice by a split decision and a lot of people thought he won the 1st fight. Before the 1st bout, Harris had lost 3 in a row.

He also lost to Laurent Dauthuille, Norman Hayes, Robert Villemain and was stopped by Bobby Murphy and Danny Nardico.
