Most damaging punchers

Some fighters just have a knack for busting guys up, let's mention and share our thoughts about some of them.

Joe Louis: No matter who he fought, the other guy looked far worse than him afterwards, even against Marciano and Schmelling, who both beat the crap out of him, Max and Rocky looked more swollen and banged up than Joe.

Muhammad Ali: Almost everyone he fought ended up puffy or cut.

Bob Foster: Same as Ali, everyone was almost always bloody or all puffed up.

Antonio Cervantes from most the fights I got to see left his opponents bloodied. Nicolino Locche, lyon furuyama,Gonzalez, Maybe the gloves had something to do with it but it happened often.

Some of Pacquiao's foes ended that way too: Cotto, Margarito, JMM, Diaz, Barrera, Morales...

That is true, but a lot of that was also because he was completely destroying his oponents whereas previously mentioned people did worse damage with half the punches Pac did. Pac is more of an accumulated damage guy.

Well then as RawlyPiff said, it must had something to do with gloves used in that era since things like that have become a lot less frequent in recent times, especially to see it in a particular boxer.

On the other hand, I do could tell you some fighters that instead of damaging their opponents, they ended the fight damaged themselves, such as Jorge Arce, Michael Katsidis and more recently, Jorge Linares.
