Ok, good. I wasn't sure if it was a serious list or not.

First, lets clear some things up.

Rocky Marciano did not duck Floyd Patterson. Patterson was a light heavyweight when Marciano retired, and Patterson jumped at a chance to win the heavyweight crown.

Rocky Marciano did not duck Sonny Liston. Liston was not a big fighter by the time that Marciano retired, and he did not deserve a title shot.

I want anyone to give me a name on somebody that Marciano ducked.

The first reason that Marciano retired was because he had a terrible back. When Marciano says something is bad.... its horrible.

The second reason is because who is there to fight. There was no more big name fighters that deserved a title shot, and he had beaten everybody worthy.

The third reason was because he hated his promoter Al Weill. Weill got half of all of Marcianos earnings, and Marciano hated him so much that he did not want to give Weill another dime. Marciano's father cooked for Marciano while Marciano was training, and Al Weill went into the kitchen and yelled at his father for cooking the food. Then Marciano went in there and told Weill never to speak to his father like that again. I would have said, "You talk to him like that again, and I'll kill you." litterally.

What do you guys think?

He never liked Franky Carbo either. He knew who he was working for, and so did everyone else. I am not exactly clear on how Marciano felt but his family, his father, were people that thought the mob gave Italians a bad name. The slit nose he got against charles and what he did to Vingo entered into it too. He was 32 and he knew he would get beat eventually. Liston wasn't even a contender. He went to jail in 56 and was barred from Boxing al of '57. He certainly wasn't ducking Patterson. D'amato knew what he had in Patterson and no way would he put him in with a rough fighter like Marciano. He ducked Machen and Liston after he got the title. And Patterson was still a Light Heavy when Rocky retired. There was planned fight with Liston and Lou Duva was to manage but it never happened.

Marciano did indeed retire because of the physical problems he was facing. There has been alot of talk here of Marciano and the level of his opposition. Fact is he fought a tonne of top level ocntenders but sadly none of those contenders were on the level of previous heavyweight generations, or the golden age to follow.

His biggest wins came against hall of famers who were all well past their best and he went life and death with them. Marciano was great in his time and deserves his place amongst hw rankings but h2h he would get beat by many, many top heavyweights from various eras.

His era was like the Klitschko's era, they're very good heavyweights, but without good opposition.

When the Kbros faced good oppositions, they did lose.
