Unbeaten WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto (31-0, 25 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over former three-time world champion Shane Mosley (44-5, 37 KOs) on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Cotto landed the better shots in round one and most of round two, however Mosley landed some good rights at the end of the second. Both landed big shots in round three with Cotto momentarily rocked by a right hand. More good exchanges in the fourth, slight edge to Cotto. Round five was close, but Cotto appeared to be taking control in the sixth. Mosley adjusted and tried boxing from the outside in a sloppy seventh round. The boxing continued in the eighth as Mosley moved and Cotto pursued...close round. Mosley hurt Cotto in the ninth round but Cotto fought back gamely at the end of the round. Mosley dominated the first half of the tenth, but Cotto rallied in the second half. Mosley pressed in the eleventh, but Cotto landed some great counterpunches to win the round. Possibly thinking he had the fight won, Cotto was staying out of range in the twelfth, although he landed two good rights. Scores were 115-113, 115-113, 116-113.

Damn!! Big credit to SSM for this fight, hes 35 years of age and hes still fighting the best young fighters around. Hmm i dont know whos going to win this, its a real toughie

its a toughie for both, its cotto's toughest fight to date and mosleys most likely toughest fight at the moment besides mayweather but cotto may punish him more than mayweather woudl. This is goign to be real interesteing but i never count cotto out.

Excellent fight!!! Im a big Sugar Shane fan but Cotto has certainly grown on me, these fights are just getting better. I just dont know who I would be shouting for.

Mosley has to jump around move jab punch in combinations and get out. Get in and get out. To do that hes has to show up in the shape of his life. And this fight is going to happen at ww thats great
