David Diaz vs Manny Pacquiao - 6/28/08 - HBO PPV

Manny Pacquiao is certainly not looking past his June 28 opponent, WBC lightweight champion David Diaz. Pacquiao moves up in weight to challenge Diaz for the title at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Both fighters have now agreed terms and the ink is dry on the contracts.

Diaz has been listed as a heavy underdog by most experts, citing his lack of speed as the major obstacle in the fight. What Diaz lacks in speed, he makes up for with power. Pacquiao told The Manila Bulletin that while Diaz can't match his quickness, he is still a very tough opponent.

Pacquiao says Diaz is “not too fast but remains a very dangerous opponent.”

The main factor won't overlook in the fight is Diaz's punching power.

"Diaz has power in his hands and you just don’t take somebody like him lightly because you might end up crying in the end," said Pacquiao.

It will be interesting to see if pacman will fight his normal fight or whether he will be more cautious going into unknown territory and with much bigger future fights very much on his mind.

This could be a career defining fight for pacman in more ways than one.

Manny for the win

Many are predicting a Manny Pacquiao win, with bettors seemingly echoing their sentiments (or is it the other way around?). Manny is currently a 4-1 favorite over David Diaz. However, experts are quick to point out that this won't be a slam dunk for Manny as Diaz is a scrappy and sturdy fighter who is capable of pulling off a win if Pacquiao isn't in his best form.

Good post monaco welcome aboard .

Pac by UD. He'll get caught with good shots though.
