Mas Macho
I really think the fight is up in the air. I know how good a boxer Cotto is, I know how good a puncher. The fight with Gomez exemplified the fact that Cotto really is "all-around." Margarito, to most people, is nothing more than a slow puncher with a hard-head. But truth be told, however regretfully, Cotto gets caught with the right hand a lot, including uppercuts up the middle. He's gotten stunned, wobbly, and even knocked down by these particular shots. Other than that, Cotto has a decent chin. Still, lets be frank, although he has been victorious in prizefights against well-skilled big names like Judah and Mosley, Cotto hasn't really been tested since acquiring the title, at least in the sense of brawler vs brawler. Think about it. He hasn't fought someone in Margarito's category for a few years now. And although he is brushed off as a C-class fighter, Margarito is one puncher that can consistently test Cotto's chin, which really hasn't been tested in a while IMO. And besides having an iron chin, Margy can also take a bodyshot.
My guesstimations for the fight are:
#1. In order to douse any possibility of a brawl, Cotto's jab will need to be strategically flawless.
#2. In order to brawl, Margy will have to go inside about 90% of the time.
#3. If Cotto were to get knocked down, it would most likely be the classic uppercut from Margarito.
#4. If Margarito "" "" "", it would definitely be the body-shots from Cotto.
My prediction for the fight:
Everything goes well for Cotto that night. Win by UD.
