If Oscar fights like this with a real fighter he will be in big trouble. He wasn’t jabbing enough he was walking in with out throwing any punches.
If does this with Floyd, Floyd will have him for lunch. To fight Floyd he must punch first and second and last that’s the only way to take Floyds hand speed a way.
A lot of fighters try to counter Floyd but he is too fast by the time you counter he is landing the second punch. So you must try to get him defensive to land something.

Did you see the ass whoopin' that De La Hoya handed out? I am still in shock. The Golden Boy has always been one of my faves, and I have never see him come apart like that. It is not in his nature to slug it out like that, and he had Mayorga on the ropes. In the final knockdown Oscar hit him at least 30 times, where the hell did it come from? It must be from the fact that Mayorga is a habitual trash talker. Don't get me wrong, Oscar has had some decent fights. He was just so aggressive that night, and not running like normal.

Smart Management

I ahve never been a big Oscar fan but he does step up when he has to. It isn't just what he did in the ring but he picks his opponents well. The way he runs his career reminds me of Ray Leonard. He is good at managing the road he walks because he can most of the time pick the bumps. I am not down playing his win or the fighters he faces but I am saying he is a very smart pre fight boxer.

Definitely, I couldn't agree more. He could fight harder and slug it out like some do, but he is smart enough about things that he doesn't have to. There are some boxers that just know how to fight, and there are the few like De La Hoya that can manage every aspect. Because of him picking and choosing his battles wisely, a lot of people I know don't care for him at all. I can see now, that he knows how to step if up if he has to. That is something I didn't really learn until the Mayorga fight. With most of his fights, he is not so aggressive. I was glad to see him step it up, especially at the end of his career. At least he is smart enough to know when to get out. A lot of boxers don't, they have to wait for the fans to tell them.
