trash talk is stupid
Did anyone see the Mike "No Joke" Stewart-Grady Brewer fight last night on The Contender? In his dressing room, Stewart was going on about what he would do to Brewer, that if Brewer didn't beat him in the first round he couldn't, blah, blah, blah. But when he got into the ring, Stewart was pathetic. It's no joke that he should quit boxing.
Wouldn't it be nice to hear a fighter say "I respect my opponent's abilities as much as my own and I will do my best." ?
Trash talking is the fastest way to get yourself psyched up for your bout.It can also be an indication of fear.I don't think he was scared this last fight he was finally out boxed.He did not look all that great in his last bout, but happened to land a huge left hook,which got him to the next round. Overall I thought he was a good part of the show.
I’m not a fan of it personally. I think actions speak louder than words.
Trash talk can work against you, it can inspire the person you’re trashing.
I rather respect my opponent and just let him know that my intentions are to win.
I don't like it either but some have used it effectively against their opponents,such as Ali.It's like throwing a body punch to your mind before the bout some can shake it some can't.It's as much a part of boxing as bad promoters and bad corner men.
Trash talking is an extremely effective tool.

The not so greats
1-k-9 last week against Walter
TT is to get the other person to perform with anger-emotion as most people can't control them self’s when they are angry.
The most recent was k-9 against Walter.
Walter is a much better all around boxer then k-9 but k-9 talked so much trash that Walter wanted to fight and show he is a fighter and could out gun k-9 and it back fired big time so in this case TT was the only reason k-9 won.
I have nothing against TT as long it's not personal.

Muhammed Ali did start trash talking in boxing, at least in a big way. Before he won the title he was already saying "I'm the greatest." He said that was a publicity tactic he learned from Aileen Eaton, a major figure in boxing shows in
Los Angeles. She advised him to have personality, to attract attention.
But watching a television documentary about Ali, I heard something interesting. The narrator was describing when Ali, then known as Cassius Clay, was approaching his first fight with Sonny Liston in which he would take the title from him. According to this speaker, the remarks Clay threw out to the press about Liston, such as "ugly", and about himself, like"I am a pretty fighter", were meant to make Liston and his camp think Clay was "crazy". If Liston thought Clay was mentally unstable he wouldn't fight him. Or, in other words, for all the bravado shown by the "Louisville Lip" and "Gaseous Cassius" as he was dubbed, Clay was afraid of fighting him.
It's hard for me to believe that. Liston, I can recall,was the favorite and his loss to the loudmouthed challenger ,who was soon to be called Muhammed Ali,
was a stunning upset. But it's a fascinating idea.
It was a big upset, in their first fight Clay got cagulant in his eyes which is why all he did was dance around and jab, but after that Liston got destroyed.
