Mikkel Kessler vs Markus Beyer

At Copenhagen, Denmark, Mikkel Kessler (37-0, 28 KOs) is a sportsbook favorite
to beat Markus Beyer (34-2-1, 13 KOs) in a 12-round bout for Kessler's WBA and
Beyer's WBC super middleweight titles. Kessler, known as the "Viking Warrior"
is fighting in his hometown, and most boxing bets will be on his side. His last
fight was a 10-round TKO of Eric Lucas. Beyer, meanwhile, a German who goes by
"Boom Boom," didn't get to finish his last fight, in May against Sakio Bika.
That bout was stopped in the fourth round due to a cut under Beyer's eye and
was ruled a technical draw. Speaking of Bika, he also fights on Oct. 14,
taking on Joe Calzaghe in Manchester, England, for Calzaghe's IBF and WBO
super middleweight titles. Boxing bettors have had a sure thing in Calzaghe,
as he is 41-0 with 31 KOs. He is the overwhelming sportsbook favorite in this bout,
near his hometown. Calzaghe, a southpaw, had one of the most impressive fights of 2006
by dominating Jeff Lacy in March in his last bout. Bika (20-1-2 with 13 KOs)
is an Australian whose last fight was the technical draw to Markus Beyer.
All signs point to an easy Calzaghe victory.
