Joe Frazier versus Rocky Marciano prime vs prime

Both of these men refused to take a backward step and both had bonecrushing power. Marciano is known as having one of the best rights of all time, and Frazier is known for having one of the best lefts.

Both had incredible stamina, will to win, guts, and ability to take a punch.

Marciano has the edge in power, stamina, chin, and heart.

Frazier has the edge in speed, defence, footwork, and accuracy.

Either way it would be a huge war, but I think Marciano pulls it out in a very close decision.

I would take Frazier by close decision.

Id take Frazier to win this one, he also had a good weight advantage over Rocky.

I think Joe would have got a early ko.

Marciano

Would definitely be a war. I hate calling this one, because along with Jack Dempsey, these two are my favorite heavyweights. Frazier had quicker hands, so he had an advantage, definitely. Marciano had heavier one punch knockout power, however, and in both hands. As others have said here, neither would back down. Marciano had a tougher chin, which may make the difference with two sluggers/swarmers of this caliber. Frazier had a tendency to be open to uppercuts, and Marciano would not have missed that. Perhaps the telling difference would be closing when your opponent is hurt: for instance, Frazier tended to go for the big left hook, after he'd hurt his opponent. He'd nail a guy, again, with one big punch, then hesitate. Round 11 of Ali-Frazier I, and Round 15th, have plenty of missed opportunities by Frazier. To be fair, maybe Frazier was somewhat shocked that Ali stayed on his feet, like the rest of the world watching that fight. However, interesting thing about Marciano is that once he had his opponent hurt, he just threw like a man on a mission to destroy, destroy, and annilihate. Also, let me state that Marciano is my favorite fighter of all time, so like JCC in Texas, I am for Marciano from jumpstreet. Cheers,

Great good luck to all,

What a fight, i agree with a lot of the statements above, I would however have to go with joe ref stops the fight to prevent marciano taking anymore punishment round 11. I think joes handspeed would be the difference with him outlanding marciano 2 to 1 in every round and the shear number of punches would wear down marciano.
joes i believe was bigger but im not sure by how much, if it was significant then this would also add to marcianos troubles as the fight wore on.

Great fight, Great Fight

Joe was the same height as Marciano, but he was 20lbs heavier with some extra size around the midsection. Trim that down and he probably weighs around 195-200.
