You have added 2&2 and got 5.
Hagler went toe-to-toe with Hearns because Hearns was a welterweight and Hagler knew he had the edge in exchanges. He also knew that doing this took away Tommys best chance which clearly was to box from the outside.
Hagler had amazing ringsmarts snd would tailor each fight to the requirement.
Hagler did NOT go toe-to-toe with big middleweights generally and certainly not with big bulky bully fighters with good KO records or rushing fighters who liked to exchange.
Hagler boxed this type of fighter.
What on earth makes you think Tyson had the stamina or boxing skill set to out point Hagler?
If you pick Tyson at all you have to go with a KO (something never done).
Tyson had big problems with a fighter with a good jab and in his prime Hagler had one of the greatest and most underrated jabs of all time.
Hagler's jab was an unmerciful sharp damaging stick that repeatedly wounded his opponent and often cut them to pieces by the championship rounds. He also had speed in his prime and a great lead left and bludgeoning hooks and uppercuts and he put them together in bunches efficiently when he slowed you down.
You guys are MASSIVELY underestimating Hagler.
I am a huge Tyson fans, but styles make fights and Tyson would not beat Hagler....
Any of you guys watched all the fights of both boxers and watched a lot of them live??
I have. I watched all of Tyson back in the day and I watched the latter part of Hagler's career live and went back and viewed most all his fights prior and Hagler is simply better.
We can argue about where we place Mike but Hagler is a nailed on 1 or 2 at 160.....
If you guys are arguing this without having seen Hagler in his prime and watching most those fights (in their entirety not via youtube) then you don't know 50% of your subject matter.
