The Official Boxing Forum Interview with Yuri Foreman - 9/5/08

The Official Boxingforum.com interview with Yuri Foreman - 9/5/08

1. How busy is a professional boxer?

Extremely busy, its just a normal 8 hour day for me usually. It's much easier when you enjoy doing something you love.

2. What would your dream fight be?

At this stage of my career, it would be for a world title.

3. Does boxing on Madison Square Garden and Vegas undercards make you determined to headline a card there?

Fighting for a world title at MSG is my ultimate dream for now.

4. What roll does religion take place in your boxing.

Its a big part of my life.

5. How good do you think you can become?

I think I can became great, haha.

6. Have any big name fighters gave you any tips, if so who?

Jirov, I was in the camp with him for a month, and we are friends now.

7. Who have you modeled your style on?

You know growing up in Israel, I didnt have any role models over there, so I been watching a lot of American fighters on tape. Big fan of boxers like Ali, Tyson, Oscar De la Hoya, Tszyu, and a few more..

8. What do you feel is the current p4p champion?

Calzaghe

9. What are your thoughts on Delahoya vs Pacquioa?

I'm not interested in it at all.

10. I have heard that because of your intent to become a Rabbi you aren't allowed to hurt people. Is this why we don't see you going for knock out's, which is fine because you are a great pure boxer?

They did wrong interpretation. I dont go into the ring with intentions of hate toward opponents and hurting them. The reason I didnt ko anyone lately is pure technical. I'm working on it.

11. What do you attribute your great speed and stamina to?

Giving the max everday in the gym.

12. What are the pros and cons of being a New York based boxer?

I really don't have an answer to that question. It's great.

13. How do you feel about your division and who are you gunning for?

Any world champion.

14. What are your thoughts on facing the winner of hatton vs malignaggi?

They are lighter then me, well Hatton gets heavier then me after the bar, haha.

15. As a fan of the sport what fight in recent memory (you weren't involved in) dissapointed you the most?

The one that first pops into my head is Oscar vs Mayweather.

16. Who or what inspired you to box?

Bullies.

17. Any advice for people interested in the sport?

It's the best sport to get in shape. But to those who wanna get serious, they better be determined to go that extra mile.

Thanks a million man. Everyone at Boxingforum.com greatly appreciates you taking the time out to do this.

Anytime Lance.

I was a little surprised when he said he thought the P4P Champion was Calzaghe.

A strong argument can be made for it imo, as he's 46-0 as well as a 2 weight champion.
