***** Manny Pacquiao vs David Diaz Play By Play *****

Manny Pacquiao is certainly not looking past his June 28 opponent, WBC lightweight champion David Diaz. Pacquiao moves up in weight to challenge Diaz for the title at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Both fighters have now agreed terms and the ink is dry on the contracts.

Diaz has been listed as a heavy underdog by most experts, citing his lack of speed as the major obstacle in the fight. What Diaz lacks in speed, he makes up for with power. Pacquiao told The Manila Bulletin that while Diaz can't match his quickness, he is still a very tough opponent.

Pacquiao says Diaz is “not too fast but remains a very dangerous opponent.”

The main factor won't overlook in the fight is Diaz's punching power.

"Diaz has power in his hands and you just don’t take somebody like him lightly because you might end up crying in the end," said Pacquiao.

We will be doing a live play by play here at boxingforum.com for this HBO PPV on June 28th

Fields-Barrett is on. Fields coming forward, Barrett just staying back. All of a sudden Fields is caught with a right hand on the way in and is rocked, and goes down under a barrage of punches. He can't get up! 1st Round KO for Barrett.

Wow, I didn't see that coming and apparently Fields didn't either.

Soto-Lorenzo has just finished. Soto was about to win in Round 4, Joe Cortez went to step in then strangely paused halfway through Then Lorenzo goes down again. Soto "apparently" hit Lorenzo whilst he was down according to officials. Soto jumps around thinking he's won, Lorenzo is laying against the ropes with blood everywhere whilst Cortez tries to find out what happened. In the end his decision is...disqualification! So Lorenzo wins! Very bad decision from the ref IMO. Steve Bunce calls Joe Cortez stupid and pathetic. Lots of confusion at the end of that fight.

Very bad call from Cortez. That punch was neither effective nor intentional. The better fighter gets screwed once again...
