I was really dissapointed by his performance aganst Willie Limond and i reckoned that if he fourght like that again Lawto would beat him.

However he looked great against Lawton and he convinced me for the first time against Lawton. Anyone else see the fight? An if so what did you think of his performance?

I watched it, I was ready to comment on how boring the fight was until Khan unloaded with a flurry near the end of the 2nd (I think).

I don't think it's so much a great performance from Khan as it may have been an equally poor performance from Lawton. I found myself increasingly frustrated by his refusal to pretty much do anything, he was very defensive and cagey the whole night and didn't look like he wanted to throw any reply punches in fear of being caught worse.

This is probably the third fight of his I've watched now where his opponent acted in a similar fashion to this, unfortunately I missed the Limond fight but that seems to have been his biggest test thus far.

Lawton never believed he could win that fight, he never opened up and looked intimidated. Khan did his job, but IMO Limond is a better fighter than Lawton was, so until he steps up and takes out Thaxton/Earl i wont be impressed.

again, its still a learning curve for amir guys.

thats only his 14th fight and lawton aint all that bad a fighter, amir showed great improvment in the fight IMO he kept his hands up more than ive seen him do in the past and managed to block a lot of lawtons shots instead of using his unbeleibible athletic ability to get away from them.

he still got hit by 2 solid right hands that could have been more punishing if lawton hit hard but he still looked great in the stoppage.

i rate that performance 7/10.

Id say that about sums it up. I really liked the fact that his left hand was ALOT higher than usual, thats very encouraging. I like how he paced himself, wen he had Lawton against the ropes he didnt throw mad flurries he threw 4-5 good shots then stepped out. He did very good, but against a fairly poor opponent IMO.

It will be Amir Khan-Graham Earl on December 8th, which will be a good fight. Earl would be the best fighter Khan has faced so far, but id fancy Khan to beat him. A win over Earl, then Thaxton early next year then step upto European level would be good for Khan IMO.

To be fair though, after 14 pro fights, there aint many top fighters who had a better resume than Khan does now.

Thank you for the effort Balistik. I haven't seen Khan fight more than once, so I really want to see how he has progressed. If anything pops up let me know guys. Thanks.
