Angry Flat Feet training (Help!!!)

My feet are flat like pancakes and training to become more light on my feet is extreemly painful i.e. jumprope, jumping jack etc. My arches tend to cramp after about 1 min. and its not a cramp you can work through i usually have to drop to the ground until they relax. Anybody got ideas on foot wear or technique that can make my training more productive?

Hey im no boxing expert i do quite a bit of jump rope. I also go running and you need to work out what sort of running shoes you need theres different types for different feet. I dont know if you can get different types of generall trainers for different feet or not. But one thing i would say is watch the surface youre on it has to be quite flexible eg i jump rope on a wood laminate floor laid on top of a cushioned lining. Concrete is a no no. Alot of boxers skip in the ring iv heard! Hope that helps a bit.

I also have flat feet and they gave me plenty of trouble over the years, especially in the Army (82nd Airborne Infantry Ft Bragg). After years of trying different insoles I found these:
Sof Sole : The Sole of Performance
They used to be called stable trac but they might just be called stability now. They are made by Sof Sole and can be found at many sporting good stores (don't try foot locker cause they don't sell them). They cost $30 beans and I love them so much I bought two additional pairs, the origional pair is still holding up after about 2 years. Another good insole:
Sof Sole : The Sole of Performance
is also made by Sof Sole called graphite. I used these for years and have three pair. They work well but are more expensive than the stability and they begin to squeak after a while. In fact it is very anoying and is the reason I tried the stability insole in the first place. Hope this helps.

Respectfully
John

i seriously underestimated skipping as a means of exercise, stick at it.. its works wonders for me, i couldnt manage 30 seconds at first but im getting pretty good now! its added almost as much bounce to my step as a date in jacuzi with vida guerra would!!!

have you put the insoles in your boxing boots? If so is there much difference between the boxing boots and the regular trainers?

I find New balance shoes, the good ones from running shops, and not the crappy discount kind, make a huge difference if they are fitted properly.

Dont wear boxing shoes for training if you have foot pain. Especially while doing your jump rope and calesthenics. Find a fitness shoe that fits your archs comfortably, or find a good gel or equivalent sole insert that works for you. This will also be better for your knees in the long run.

Hi,

I don't think your problem is in your feet. It's more about distibution of weight, and balance. You stance should be as natural as possible, with majority of your weight distributed on your, lead, front foot. While your back foot should be raised slightly.
