Hey, I got my first amateur fight soon ( on the 21st ), a problem that has been occurring for a little while is the feeling of my left arm going dead, while sparring or training. I've been training at the Gym since August and been doing lots of conditioning and stamina work.

I've tried a bunch of stuff from jogging 2 miles with my arms in a blocking stance with weights in my hands to shadow boxing with weights. One of the trainers who knows a lot about weights advised me to do 3 sets of 5 pull ups, 30 push ups, 2 sets of overhead presses and 2 sets of lateral rises and 2 sets of upright rows, three times a week.

I done these set of exercises on 1 day and it destroyed my shoulders ( in a good way ), I took 2 days to recover, however I started working on the bags and there wasn't that much of an improvement as my shoulders went dead.

On saturday my coach and me done a 1on1 session working on my jab for 1 hour and a half using shadow boxing, light weights, weights and heavy bags. I'm still recovering from that and hoping to go in fresh tomorrow for another workout.

Would you guys advise me to stick with the several exercises directly affecting my shoulders or work with my coach and perform the exercises he showed me on saturday.

I'am 16, 5ft11, 77kg, orthodox style

Thanks,

Philip

hi mate it sounds to me like you haev lax in your shoulders which means they are not fully tight in the socket, a problem i had! are you double jointed ??
when i used to train my shoulders would feel week very quickly i found skipping really helped this ALOT of skipping!! do you have to stop skipping after a while from your shoulders aching? if this is the same problem you have give it ago mate you will notice your shoulders being able to take on skipping longer and longer i can go aslong as i like now without my shoulders aching it seems to have worked !

I use whieghted bag gloves on the bag for 2-5 rounds each time at the gym. These are from ringsibe but title carries them now. They are 40oz each they do amazing job of building endurance and allows you to punch in with normal technique I live these my power is up as well as speed Cruz of these. We don't lift whieghts we just box.
