Shane Mosley vs. Fernando Vargas - July 15 06

SHANE MOSLEY VS. FERNANDO VARGAS II
Mosley stopped Vargas in their first "showdown"
who will win "the rematch"on July 15?

It was a night few fight fans will forget. Two of boxing's superstars, despite having already established themselves as the best of their era, fighting it out like hungry prospects eager for their first shot at boxing's brass ring. When it was over on February 25th, "Sugar Shane" Mosley and 'Ferocious' Fernando Vargas had given fight fans an unforgettable night, with Mosley emerging as the victor after the fight was stopped in the 10th round.

This will be a good rematch for two great warriors. Even though Mosby took the first match, I am looking for Vargus to do better in this rematch. [I didn't watch the first fight-too tight to pay for payforview]

No I am not kidding you. I said I didn't see the fight because I don't want to spring for the money to watch it on PPV. But I am basing my opinion on the fights that both have had during their careers. Both the "california golden boy". Sugar beat him straight up and Vargas was beaten by him.

Vargas is done. He doesnt move enough, and cant seem to stop the right hand. He gave some decent performances throughout his career, but I think his best days are surely behind him now. As for mosley, I think that he certaintly looked much better in the rematch, using his jab much better. Especially to setup his right. He moved alot more instead of staying right in front of Vargas, and he didnt get hit with too many unnecessary right hands like he did in the first bout. I dont know if it actually had anything to do with his father returning to his corner again, but he was certaintly better prepared for this fight.
That being said, I think "Sugar's" best days are also behind him. He may show a sparkle, occasionally, of the greatness he had shown throughout his career, but keep in mind, this fight was against a slow moving, slow punching boxer in Vargas. I love Shane as much as most people, but I just dont wanna see him exit the game too late.

I would like to see Vargas take an easy fight in Oxnard & go out on a win. Retire take care of his back problems/surgery & spend time with his family.

I agree, but the problem with these athletes is they dont know when to quit, or maybe theyre not financially ready to quit.

Going out with a win is the best way
