okay, i am fairly new to boxing, although i watch it a lot and know all the punches and how to throw them somewhat okay.and i have NO equipment. first off, i am located in boca raton, fl and was wondering any good boxing gyms within about 15 minutes of here. i know about the whole gym directory but that doesnt tell me what gym is legit or not. also i would like to know what size heavy bag i should get and if you thin a freestanding bag is good or should i just hang a normal bag from the ceiling. i am about 5 foot flat or 4' 11" and 14 years old about 87-93 pounds. (14 years old). and also, should i get the "jr" sized gloves and wraps or normal sized ones. and should i start jogging in the mornings cause i heard that is mad important for training. i think this might help.. i skateboard alot so im in good shape. and some training methods to start off doing would be nice. i would like to do some local fights and see how i am, im a fairly good age to start off at if i ever were to get into boxing seriously, correct? thanks in advance.

A hanging heavy bag is always a better option if you have enough space. For your size, you should have a bag between 60 and 100lbs. Get some quality heavy bag gloves in 12 or 14 oz weight, and get some handwraps as well. Check out the following link for equipment and also check out the stickied thread on Wrapping your Hands.

I live in Boca too. ATT (American Top Team) is a great place to box. They're known really well, and have trained many MMA fighters (currently on UFC and other MMA companies). I train there.

Its on Lyons with Hillsboro, a 30 min drive for me.

Its a big gym, and filled with great people. They got a shop there, and you can get your equipment there. But i recommend buying it from Everlast (or other manufacturers) as that shop rips you off, and isnt the best quality.

You can sparr on saturdays.

You'll need handwraps and I recommend 10 oz gloves.
If you wanna sparr, u need headgear, a mouthpeice, a cup, and i think they're 14 oz gloves.

Theres also a place to weight train (and cardio machines) whenever you want there (if you pay, the gym is pretty much yours).
