I'm a relative newby, joining a boxing gym about 6 months ago. There's lots to say here but I'll try to mention just a few thougts. I suggest you get a little time with a boxing trainer to at least start out with some of the correct, basic moves. This would also include getting wraps (and learning how to wrap your hands) and access to decent gloves - as I'd recommend not just slugging away at the bag bare-handed. Also, a good boxing trainer can show you the suggested floor exercises to build your core. Like me, you'll find that integrating boxing into your workout routine will be fantastic.
