1-yes you are good enough to box if you are healthy any body is good enough to box when healthy
2- Your Mom is right. Boxing is dangerous.
That’s why you train with a good trainer that will not only train you but also protect you and when sparing it is best for you to be evenly matched. And when sparing with a pro. It’s good if you have a good relationship with him and he doesn't just you as a punching bag.
Good luck Dude.

if you train hard from now till your 18 getting the right guidance you should do well.

I'm a year younger than you and I box. It is really hard work, and what ever you do, stick up for your self at school, even if you get beat up. Because if you box long enough and get good enough you can beat them up. Your mom is right, boxing is dangerous, but it is also very rewarding.
Check out all of the great lanky fighters such as Thomas Hearns and Bernard Hopkins... they could throw powerful punches and all... but even they weren't very muscular... they weren't very muscular at all... hardly any muscle at all whatsoever actually!
only you can answer that question if your good enough to fight, if you have a desire to box then box, my Mother thinks boxing is to dangerous as well but boxing is a desire I have and I must go through with it, so far as people picking on you, you need to stand up for your self if not they will keep messing with you. If you won't stand up for your self and knock the hell out somebody when they pick on you, how in the hell are you going to box when the other guy is trying to knock the crap out of you, you need some heart and accept the fact that your going to get hit but you can also give hits.
oh heck yeah you can box.
i'm a scrawny ass dude too, but found out boxing is 90% heart and determination. check out buster douglas vs mike tyson.
your mamas right though, it is dangerous, but thats why chicks dig it.

and in the end, crazy beats technique.
My mother also don't want me to box. But I do it anyway, because I think its fun and good training for my body.
Yes, it's dangerous. Almost all sports bring injuries. But as long as you train and give it a shot you'll be safe.

Boxing is FUN. EVERYONE can box. Over time, you'll get stronger and better at boxing than ever. Maybe start to compete. Win a champion. Be the best. Give it a chance - and never give up.
can you box?

Yes, you can box. If it is for self defense just remember trouble usually comes in multiples and boxing is no match for firearms and other weapons. Boxing can help with self esteem and sometimes being a boxer wards off some bullies but not all. Your Mom is going to be freaked out about anything that may hurt you but if you get a good trainer and she sees it is not as barbaric and dangerous as it seems she will lighten up. I was in the situation as you years ago and everything turned out ok.
