So what are your opinions of amir khan now after he got floored by limond? I like khan alot, hes young, fast, hits pretty hard, great skills and still improving. I think he showed great heart coming back to win against limond although there is something i wonder about his chin
what do you guys think?
Me and a mate where having a chat and he thinks kevin mitchell would beat him. Who do you guys think would win this 1?
Thanks :D

You just never know about an Amatuer Sensations ablity to take a Punch, until you find out firsthand. They fight the short fights, rely more on Speed, fight with the Headgear, all those things make it a lot easier to sneak by with a weak chin.

I wouldn't neccasarly brand Khan as a weak chin,he's been getting up and wouldn't be the first young guy to suffer KD's early in his career and go on to be Great. It might even be a good thing if it slows down his progress a little. To be honest, talk of taking on Kevin Mitchell(to me at least)is a little bit premature. What's the rush?

All I'm gonna say is this... I hope he is P4P Best In The World one day!
I think he has a pretty bad chin. Limond was NOT a hard hitter, fighting most of his career at 130lbs he only had a few KOs in 30 fights. Then he stepped up to 135 and was very close to taking Khan out. He showed good heart, but unless his defense improves someone is gonna stop him very soon.

I agree, after watching the Limond fight aswell I think there are fighters now fancying their chances. Mitchell, Earl, Thaxton are all talking his name as they saw faults when he stepped up a level. Like you said Limond is no renounded puncher, but Khan showed great heart to win and hopefully with better defence he can reach his potential.
we gotta remember khans still a kid guys, he's biggining to become a victim of his own success.

IMHO he's not ready to fight earl, thaxton or arthur just yet, he's only had 13 pro fights!

its like an aprentice brickie, if the aprentice brickie is 18 years old and doing really well his previous 2 years does that mean he's ready to run a job? no i dont think so.

let khan learn his trade before jumping in to make quick asumpsions. (spelling) :p
Yeah I do agree Tommy and people (me included are being to hard to please with the guy). The British hype doesnt help him one bit. Ive followed Hatton and Joe for years, I hope im wrong but I dont see Khan having the same success or P4P recoignition.

I remember years ago when Ike Ibeabuchi was up and coming about 12-0 10 Kos his trainer Curtis Cokes said we wont know whether we have a champ here til someone tests his whiskers. Well a young also unbeaten HW Greg Pickrom did test Ike's chin he teed off a tremendous right hook right on the button. Pickrom stepped back waiting for Ike to fall Ike shook like a big old oak tree a snarl came on his lips and he marched forward & totally demolished Pickrom Curtis was over the moon we have ourselves a champ he said but when Ike came back to the corner Curtis said " I told ya to keep your hands up you big Lummox" LOL
lol:laugh: I agree with tommy we do sometimes forget how old and how inexperienced he is.. but the hype is ridiculous. Iv watched an amazing like Calzaghe never get the coverage he deserves and then Khan comes in and gets all this. IMO Khan will never be as good as Calzaghe ability wise.
Tommy-
That's kind of why I think the KD by Limond might not have been a blessing in disguise for Khan. I recall on here(I think it was),someone once saying they'd be disappointed if Khan wasn't a World Champ and the recognized P4P best in the Sport by the time he was 22. Gee,no pressure or unreal expectations there...want him to bring World Peace to go with it? ;)

LOL. Your right, Trainers like to know that their charges have a good chin, but that doesn't mean want to have that questioned answered at every step along the way :)

Couldnt agree more. I see Khan winning a title in a couple of years but I dont see him achieving what Joe and Ricky will have done by the time they retire.

i think most UK guys (myself included) have hailed khan as the second comming of SRL..lol

i think the limond fight put things in prospective though, it showed khan has a lack of "D" at this moment in time but it also showed that he's absolutly devasting when he's going forward.

i remember last year right after floyd beat baldomir and most guys were pissed with floyds showing amir said he'd be able to beat floyd over a 4 round fight, i jumped right on the bandwagon then saying not only would he beat him over 4 but he'd KO him.

i guess what im trying to say is we need to give these young fighters time to mature and learn there craft more, because were all guilty of over hyping at times and when things get a bit shaky we cast the fighter of as a nobody, ive even heard some guys around the forums who were big on berto right him off as a bum because of his knockdown in his last fight.

comical stuff dave..lol
TBH with you i think amir stands a very good chance of beating floyd in a 4 rounder
Im not either guys biggest fan, but Floyd would knock Khan out inside a round....
Tommy-
LOL,it's simply amazing how some of these guys can fall so far so fast in regards to hype, and it doesn't even take an actual loss to accomplish it either. I'm tempted to ask if Khan going to continue on or simply hang up the gloves now that it's all over? ;)

Hey,I'm just as guilty as the next boxing fan, sometimes setting expectations so high that their impossible and then acting surprised when they don't meet him. Case in Point,by my calculations(a few years back)Michael Grant the young HW "with all the tools and only lacking experience" should have easily surpassed Rocky Marciano's 49-0 with ease by now :)

inside a round  thats a joke right? Khan is not in the same league as floyd obv but over 4 rounds man. I cant remember any 1st round KO's against anyone near khans level from floyd.

At the moment, Khan has no defense, keeps his left hand too low and he WOULD NOT have the speed advantage against Floyd. Floyd is faster, stronger, more skilled and more experienced at this stage.. i would bet good money of Khan being KO'd, maybe not first round but he wouldnt last the 4 rounds.

Limond is a blown up 130lbs fighter with something like a 25% KO ratio and put Khan down, you dont think Floyd would do the same much easier than Limond did?
Floyd would get the KO inside 4 IMO. Floyd is so much bigger and stonger aswell as his speed and accuracy.

Forget Floyd, theres pleanty at lightweight for Khan to worry about in Juan Diaz, Casamayor, Kastidis, Freitas .............

Exactly, i think he needs alot of fights before even thinking about them.. never mind Floyd. Freitas would be a nice one, hes not the fighter he once was and would be a good name on Khan's record. Id like to see him fight:

Lawton (fight already made)
Earl
Thaxton
Mitchell

That means hes pretty much took out the domestic scene, he could do that by June then move onto the EBU title.. a couple of defenses of that against quality opposition then move him onto the world title shot in 2009. IMO if they rush he'll suffer the same way Bautista did against De Leon.
