On the topic of British Heavyweights heres some bad news.

Ulster boxer Scott Belshaw's career has been put in jeopardy after an horrific car crash.

The unbeaten heavyweight was involved in the accident in the early hours of yesterday morning when his car, an Audi, collided with a lorry.

Belshaw was rushed to hospitial with a broken left kneecap as well as four broken ribs, and released last night.

Belshaw had been on course for a Christmas showdown with fellow unbeaten heavyweight Martin Rogan but now there are fears over his future.

Belshaw, 22 tomorrow, enjoyed his latest victory last weekend and was expecting to be back in the ring next month.

His coach Alan Wilton said: "It's devastating for Scott because everything was going so well for him. Having heard what happened I'm just glad that he is alive. He was unconcious when the got him out of the car."

"When something like this happens boxxing comes second and I just hope he gets over it as soon as possible. He's on Morphone for the pain. The ribs will heal, I have no worries about that but the kneecap is a big concern because it could leave a weakness. It's such a shame because the fight with rogie was going to be great. Hopefully it will happen in the future."

Thats not nice to here, i didnt see much of him box but that type of thing is bad to anyone. I wish him good luck in a speedy recovery, and hope that his health is good enough that one day he can return to the ring.

Terrible. I saw him fight and he looked quite promising, even if his opponent wasnt up to much. Hed only had a few pro fights. A real shame that hell never see how good he could of been.
